Let me preface my comments by stating that I do not believe it is entirely proper to punish the players for the actions of their coach; however, football is a team game and the coaching staff is a crucial part of the instruction that the players receive, thus the actions/decisions of the coaching staff is very important to each player's overall development.
In my view, tOSU is a literal roller coaster of emotions, and from where I sit, it should not be in a position to be rewarded by the CFP committee, regardless of the outcome of all games played this weekend. The abysmal response and lack of action of their coaching staff and athletic department to address the serious matter of abuse should have real consequences. If the CFP committee truly looks at the entire body of work of each playoff contender, tOSU should be summarily dismissed because they have utterly failed to show the proper concern for not only the assistant coach's wife, they have demonstrated that the outcome of the game is more important than anything else. Is this the type of mentality that the NCAA wishes to reward?
Urban Meyer has disgraced college football by his own selfish decisions, and just as bad, the OSU administration has effectively let him get away with it. If the NCAA truly cares about player development, other than just on the field of play, they need to send a strong message that gutless and irresponsible actions like Urban Meyer's will not be tolerated, and especially, will never be rewarded.
