Tomorrow will tell us a lot about this team

A win vaults Iowa back into the bowl picture and keeps them in the Big Ten race. A loss will be a crushing blow to both. Northwestern is a beatable team and this is on the road. They 100% need this win if they have hopes for a bowl game because nothing will be easy from here on out.

If Iowa comes out hard, and wins this game, I think we'll all see they have some fight left in them. If they become "fat cats" like they did against Penn State, then this season might be over before it's over.

I'm hoping Iowa comes out with some controlled anger, and puts it all together. This is a big game for both teams and a win would bring a lot of confidence back.
 
Like so many of the other Iowa games this year I have no idea which Iowa team will show up. After CMU I thought we'd see a flat & deflated team against Minnesota. Iowa came out and laid 24 points on MN at the half.

Iowa will need to get off to a good start to get some confidence on the road. If they don't NW is an angry team right now and could take it out on Iowa.

Considering how ticked off people are right now, the questions that the media has been asking, and awful showing against Penn State, I still say this can tell us a lot if they can win.

It will put Iowa one game away from a possible bowl, and they will be 3-1 in the conference.
 
I think if we win it won't tell us anything except te BoneG is pathetic. If we lose, it won't tell us anything that we don't already know.
 
Last week at home "NIGHT GAME" Kinnick told me all I need to know about this team. Well and how they have played the first 7 games of course, but damn if you can get up for PSU at Night and get blow out after stealing a win in East Lansing the week before, this season is OVER...

There really has been a difference in this team?? Interesting.
 
Iowa won't have the same rushing attack even with Weisman. The left tackle was responsible for a large percentage of Iowa's offensive production. Weisman will play but those huge holes won't be there. Don't expect much of a running attack and the same old thing on 2. PSU redeux
 
We already know this is not a good Iowa team. If they win Saturday, I don't think that really changes anything, except that maybe we'll be back to wondering if Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde would show up the following week. But a win would give Iowa a better shot at making a bowl game. Lose, and it will be tough.

So I would say that this week's game will tell us alot about Iowa's bowl chances, not so much about the team itself.

Since 2006, Iowa Football has shown it's been capable of beating just about anybody, and also that it's capable of losing (or ALMOST losing) to just about anybody. Inconsistency has been the only constant the past several years. Even 2009 - it looked good @PSU and against Arizona, and won the Orange Bowl. Yet it almost lost to UNI and Arkansas St.
 
This is an inconsistent team, with some serious holes - I don't know what could happen tomorrow that would change that evaluation. I hope the defense plays great and gives us a chance to win. But, we could win by 3td's tomorrow and I would feel no more confident about the next game than I do right now. Hope for his own pride and fulfillment, JVB has his best game of the season.
 
the only thing tomorrow's game will tell us if Iowa still has a shot at 6 wins. If they lose, no effin' way.
 
Sadly, the season is pretty much a wash and we are playing for a lower-tier bowl game. We are 7 games into the season and this team has shown little that it is going to take a step forward. This is simply a very average Iowa team. We might get a win against NW or Purdue ... but after that, Michigan and Nebby are going to roll us.
 
I fully expect us to split the next 2 games and have it come down to beating Purdue to get bowl eligible. Take your pick on which of the next 2 we win, I could easily see us beating Northwestern and then getting beat at Indiana.
 
There is NO DOUBT about bowl picture. That's a lock. The question is, can we get to the Rose. I feel it. JVB is back baby!!

My first reaction to this post is laughter, then i notice how many more vbucks you have than I do and now I'm wondering if you know something I don't. If you lay those vbucks on the Hawks, I'll follow suit with mine. Screw the under/over!....it's all on the Hawks winning straight up!

I hear you, but I think the "fat cats" description is really inaccurate this year. The term implies that they are talented buy lazy. I think this team tries really hard, but is very, very young, and suffers from a lack of talent at, ahem, critical positions.
 
It's Northwestern and they just love beating us probably more than any other big ten school. It's on their field, we are struggling for survival and they are fighting for a better bowl game. They have that high speed no huddle offense that gives us seizures. Not good. We need to misalign the stars tomorrow.
