I cannot fathom any reason you would leave a school in a fairly stable conference such as the Big 12 to a school in a conference that has basically been given its last rites.

Yeah, I mean he went 7-5 in THE TOUGHEST CONFERENCE IN AMERICA! He was clearly building something HUGE there.

I was referring more to the fact that I'm not sure if Cincy has a seat at the table if we go to four conferences with 16 teams.

He could have just cut to chase and took a mid major or FCS job instead because that's where Cincinnati is headed. The only Big East teams left are Cincy, Uconn and USF. Even the basketball schools got out of that collapsing conference. But hey... at least they added west coast teams, service academies and even Tulane. If the west coast teams are smart, they'll back out and form a conference with each other and hope to get called up to the big leagues. But speaking strictly about Cincy, they're not getting called up. As if it's not bad enough that their stadium holds 30,000, they were struggling to get 20,000 to 25,000 fans in the seat this past season. Keep in mind, they were 9-3 which is good by most standards, so fans should have been eating those tickets up. Cincy brings nothing to the table and will be left out in the cold. Stupid move by Tubs.
