To think.... UNI might not had made the tournament???

Had they not got the auto bid?.?.? Something to chew on. One of the best upsets to happen in March Madness might not have happened if UNI does not win the MVC Tournament, even with their regular season conference title.

Reason:
1. They played no one in the regular season.
2. Reason number 1 is what kept Virgina Tech out.
3. Old Dominion does not count as someone, because they would not have been in the tournament had they not got their auto bid.
 
UNI was pretty much viewed as a lock to get in regardless of whether or not the earned the auto-bid - but as a 9 seed, it may not have been as automatic as the pundits were thinking.

But the Panthers have clearly proven they were underseeded at 9.
 
They beat Siena who was also in the tourney. It's not their fault that the MVC as well as Iowa and Iowa State were down this year too.

Your right, because they have to play those games. But what about the other 10 plus non-conference games? Why not play a name or two?

Exactly, they would have made it anyway. Even with the bad lose to Evansville that made most people dismiss them, they were still ranked in the top 25 a lot, finished the season 24 in the coaches poll and just missed in the ap, with an rpi of 17.

But yeah, they didn't have enough impressive wins to wow the committee, that's why the crappy seed.

They had a few chances with the original schedule, beating Iowa, Iowa ST and Boston College, but with none of those teams being any good it didn't help. Tough for teams like them to schedule a tougher nonconference schedule cause nobody wants to schedule a home and home when they no they might lose.

Give me a break about Siena. Auto bid and no way in without it. That is a nobody team. Bad point on your part.

No one will come to UNI to Play and they would have to go to places like UNC UConn were winning isn't easy, if they lose those games they are out. See Creighton this year??

Didn't have to play Siena. That wasn't a bracket buster. That was ODU. They also played in the Virgin Islands tourney. They were upset by DePaul (bad loss) and beat Boston College. Do you think BCS teams want to play UNI? I think it is tough for them to get good teams to play them.

I am not saying they had a great schedule, but I don't think it is for a lack of trying.
 
They got in....and they ran with it. Congrats....no BIG CONGRATS to the UNI's. BIG brass one's that little Ali has. That was totally awesome.
 
UNI wasn't even close to being left out of the dance. They were ranked off and on during the year and put a solid team on the court.

My point was that Creighton played a tough schedule and it killed them. That effected how they played all year. It makes perfect sense to me???
