definitely not talking about the program turning the corner.. but myself. I have tried posting several positive comments about the staff, Bobby Hanson had me pumped up with his confidence in the staff prior to last nights game... and then listening to the first 10 min on the radio... watching the last 8 min of the first half on tv. and the first 5 min of the second half.... I turned it! I was starving for womens hockey. I have not turned off an Iowa bb game this year or ever... and I couldn't stomach the way they were playing, with no heart, no enthusiasm, no joy, it was too much to handle.

This is the first time I have said that a change needs to be made... This post is for the others who have tried to stay positive for Lickliter this year and have turned the corner to be ready for a change.

Getting blown out by NW??? Come on!!! At least our previous coach (whom I am happy is gone) managed to make it come down to a buzzer beater!

Really? I haven't listened to the radio broadcasts except when I'm on the way to a game, and my impression has been that Hansen had very little confidence in the staff. What did he say last night?
 
I still haven't gotten a good answer to why people think we will be better next year?

we return the same team that has 9 WINS with 4 games left.
we have a decent class but nobody is going to come in an have a Ricky Davis or Tyler Smith type freshman seaon.

so lets say they help us win a few more games that gets us to what 12 wins?? The BT is going to be even better next year.

I am a diehard so this is extremely hard for me to handle and I don't have much to look forward to next year unless we get a new coach.
 
On the pregame show Hansen said that he liked Coach Lick and that he was sticking behind him at this time. He made some positive comments about the incoming recruiting class and basically tried to keep an up tempo outlook. At no time did I hear him say anything that I would say was overly critical of the coach. Didn't listen to the post game so I'm not sure what was discussed after the loss. I would consider myself an optimist ; but I thought the Hawks played their worst game of the year last night . No gurantees of a win now on Sunday ; our last real chance to salvage a win .

Hansen was just the opposite, hope he gets to stay here until the bitter end, and hopes the bitter end is 25 years down the road. (paraphrase, but think i got it pretty close) he was responding to a caller, i think, and i don't know exactly what the question was. hansen did say more, thought he was being looser with the kids, having more fun, said he was easy to be around, etc., etc.

one thing this bb team needs is some depth. we may not get a davis (let's hope not) or a Smith, but we should be getting quantity and some quality (they all can shoot, I think) so that is not going to hurt.

Duff, I meant in terms of basketball not in general/life. I see were it came of reading that way though after I looked at it. I have plenty of things to look forward to and with kids I don't even have time to watch the games much anymore anyway.

I really could careless about this team right now is what I was getting at. If we have a new coach then we have New Hope!!

..."couldn't be more excited for next year ..." ... Really? You think the four freshmen are going to take us to the promise land? You think the same nucleus that got its a** handed to it by lowly Northwestern is going to somehow turn the corner next year? That somehow our offense is going to come to life and we are going to start beating the more athletic Big 10 teams? Northwestern is about as non athletic as you can get in the Big 10 and it absolutely schooled Iowa.

Hmmm ... interesting ... Yeah ... I know finishing this year with 10 possible wins - and then next year maybe notching 13 - is definitely something I am looking forward to! In 10 years we should be elgible for the NCAA tourney ... You and the five other die-hards keep your faith and after next season when Lick is canned I would be curious to read your take on the situation ... Bottomline is we may win three or four more games next year but there is no way ... no way .. you can ask this fan base to struggle through 13/14 wins next year and classify that as progress and we are turning the corner ... The time is now to cut the cord, even though Barta won't ...
 
Bobby has also said this year and at least 5 times last year that he likes the staff, but they cannot turn the corner without a big time difference maker and this staff hasn't got that done. Bobby is also a paid employee, paid to say nice things about Iowa basketball.

I too want the Pro Lick guys to throw some meaningful numbers or why next year will be the turn the corner year and such. Heck most of the pro-lick faction thinks we can make a post season tourny next year...The B10 will simply be the best conference in the country next year and guys most teams are young and those that aren't have better guys currently in the program then we do!
 
I went outside and got in the car, drove and turned the corner three times and I'll be danged if I wasn't a whole block behind where I started. Maybe there is something to this expression.:eek:
