tired of radio shows saying ISU/Iowa was a "great" game

It was okay... it wasn't great. Some players made some good plays during the game and it was close... however one team choking it away from the free throw line isn't great.

Even if I had no bias either way I would never consider that game to be "Great"

Totally agree, I thought neither team looked top 25 caliber in the first half. Drama at the end being confused with good game

LOL WUT? Iowa was flying pretty much in full force in the 1st half, that was some of the best running/transition basketball that you will see. The execution on the break/secondary break was great.

It is all opinion and one's definition of a great bb game may be different. I wouldn't consider it great but it was better than okay. Lacked a buzzer beater, overtime, a scuffle and some technicals. Still a good game overall even though the bad guys won.

I thought it was an intense game played at a level that neither team has been at simultaneously for decades. If you didn't see it like that, that's fine. It's your opinion...but to say you're 'tired' of those who have a different opinion than you do?

Totally agree. I pine for the days of playing "The Butler Way."

It was a great game. What I'm tired of hearing is either team didn't play well, or didn't have their "A" game. Well that is the way it is when you line up against quality opponents, you don't just impose your will.

I don't know its like Jon when you see the same posts over and over again that you don't agree with... you get tired of them right? So much in fact that sometimes you tell people to stop.

Same thing really.

basically this is how I saw it for the most part --- good game but just didn't feel great.

It was a great game. No Iowa fan would say this if Iowa would have won.

Don't know see its all opinion... neither team was great offensively or defensively... both teams shot poor from the 3pt line... ISU clanked FT's all day long.... then Iowa players clank FT's to lose the game.

Just don't see how it was great

So how many teams are actually top 25 caliber? If Iowa and ISU are not, then maybe Kentucky and UNC are not, Kansas and Florida are probably not, Michigan State was not when they played UNC, maybe Arizona wasn't against Michigan.

I think the local media/talk shows talked about this game for a week and they were so happy that it was a close game and an exciting style of play out of both teams that they may see it a bit differently than the fans.

It was a very good game, but I think what makes it not great is because one team had total control and lost it themselves. Had Iowa not missed 6 of 7 FT's, maybe it would have turned into a great game had ISU continued to do what they were doing to come back and win.

What does bother me is when either fanbase claims one team didn't play to their highest level. That is just a bs cop-out; the equivelant of a fan saying a team got "lucky." No matter how the game is played, it is played that way, the outcome is determined.

The part of the game that I didn't like was the officiating, but that is something nobody has control over and definitely not why Iowa lost. I struggle with the fact ISU was in the bonus in both halves prior to the 8:00 mark, but no excuses, Iowa was still in position to win. It was a very good game, but not great, that I agree with.

Good intensity and very good rivalry game.

No, in those instances, those posts are stupid ;)

Really? The hawks scoring 45 points against the #17 ranked team on their home court. That was pretty impressive and it even included a self induced 3 minute scoring drought where the hawk reserves decided to chuck up some bad shots and miss some easy ones.

Check out the 1987 game @ Hilton on the Cy-TV channel.

That, ladies and gentlemen, was a great game.

No, that was a one-game aberration. One player played the best game of his life that night.

So if a player has the best game of his life the aforementioned game can't be great? The Tate to Holloway game wasn't great either. One player made the single most meaningful play of his career so whatever else happened is irrelevant it can't be great.
