Tiger stiffs brother in failing health

It seems Tiger's brother Kevin has MS and Tiger won't even give him a call to lift his spirits.

A half-brother of Tiger Woods who is in failing health and who may lose his house says he lost touch with his famous relative long ago.

Kevin Woods, his brother Earl Jr. and sister Royce told ESPN.com's Rick Reilly they haven't heard from Woods since six years ago, when they buried the ashes of their father, Earl Sr.

The three are the children of Earl Sr. and Barbara Gary, of Kansas, and are 17-20 years older that Tiger, who is from Earl Sr.'s second marriage, to Kultida Punsawad.

Kevin, Reilly reports, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2009, and is in need of a caregiver at his San Jose home.

Reilly's column, timed to Masters week, does not paint a flattering picture of Tiger's family ties, or lack thereof. He says Tiger saw his half-siblings often as a child, but started to lose touch when he was about 16.

"I leave updates on Kevin, but for whatever reason I don't get a response," Earl Jr. tells Reilly. "Kevin loves Tiger. A call from Tiger would really pump Kevin up. When he doesn't call, it just makes him feel worse."

Look, I think Tiger is a jerk. I also think rooting for individual athletes is pretty ridiculous. Root for a team, not a person. Favorite, golfers, tennis players, and God forbid, NASCAR drivers - I just don't get.

Read the article. Riley is really bottom feeding here. Three seperate times it says the family is not after money. They just want to talk with Tiger and have a relationship with him. Yeah right.
Doesnt change my view of Tiger. Not favorable.

When you have blended families with kids that are that far apart in age, the family tie thing is questionable. It is highly doubtful they ever lived together.

I am sure it also didn't help that Kevin's mom wrote an unflattering book about Earl that used Tiger's name in the title. I mean, seriously, a woman who is divorced from a guy trying to capitalize on the fame of a kid he had with another woman?

I hate stories like this. It's simply trying to MAKE news and sensationalize a story that is pure BS. As if these people have no other family members that they can lean on for emotional support. But strangely, they need a call from a guy who's worth about $1B, to help get through this. Someone who's 20 years younger and probably only saw at family reunions or little get-togethers. Yeah, I'm sure it has nothing to do with money.

It is not as if the relationship broke down in the last few years. It began when Tiger was 16 which coincided with Tiger rising in the amateur ranks and then on to his professional career. It is also old news that the relationships had not been that strong for years. Riley is reaching here!

Agree with all of this... Unless your Family or close friends with an individual. But yea to root for a complete stranger in nascar or golf or tennis is just weird.

As far as the family aspect of it all it's just that. We'll never know the real truth so leave it be it's not our buisness regardless. I can care less if he's a family man or not.

Yeah this is such a tricky topic. Who doesn't have family members they don't talk to. You can't get involved with someone else's family because you simply don't know the history. I am not a Tiger fan but not because of this article.
