Three Iowa running back recruits had huge games Friday at the high school level, none bigger than what Barrington Wade did for Niles North accomplished in a win over Niles West in an Illinois prep game.

Wade rushed for 380 yards on 25 carries in a 52-27 victory, busting loose for touchdown runs of 68, 41 and 83 yards in the win. “He’s a Division I back for a reason,’’ Niles West coach Scott Baum told the Chicago Tribune. “I wish he was playing for Iowa today.’’

Elsewhere, Toks Akinribade finished with 208 yards on 28 carries from Brownsburg (Ind.) in its nationally-televised 56-21 loss to Avon. Akinribade’s effort included a 79-yard touchdown run.

In Wisconsin, Toren Young ran for 196 yards and two scores for Monona Grove in a 27-3 win over Reedsburg.

Our new stable coming in looks impressive. Looking forward to some special moments when they're wearing the black and gold.

Wade seems to have impressive measurables for a running back. 6'1 211 pounds and runs a 4.48 40? I don't follow recruiting as much as I used to but for an RB that seems pretty beastly for a 17 year old kid that will only get stronger

Kirk has a good eye for RBs. If we could just keep them in the black and gold things would be great.

Will Wade get an opportunity to play RB at Iowa? I recall that he was recruited play linebacker. His RB numbers are incredible this year, and that might change his position in college.

Can they plant and cut? Can they be taught to plant and cut? Can they play other positions if runningback doesn't work out?
