If you want a good laugh it's on TOS. I won't link it because I don't know the rules on linking TOS. I can't tell if the guy is a troll or is legitimately arguing that the term ginger is racist.

It's on the Basketball Board

I don't think it can be a racist term, and in fact, arguing that its a racist term is actually the only thing that could remotely qualify as racist. Why?

Last I checked, when filling out government forms and the like, it asks for race as Caucasian, African American, Latino, Asian, etc...I have not seen the check box for red heads.

I had never even heard of the term ginger until Southpark.

Could it be a derogatory term in the eyes of some? Sure. Racist? LOL

As a red head, I can say that I am not offended by it. I think in the last few years the term has become more derogatory, but guess I'm am passed the age of giving a crap. I grew up getting teased about it but never wished it was a different color.

My father and both grandfathers are (were) redheads, by brother and sister are redheads, my husband is a redhead and so are his sister and brother. Three out of four of our kids are redheads. One is blond and tans. Not sure what happened there... But her hair is getting redder as she gets older. I'm partial to redheads! :)

Only us older guys on here may remember this, but "Ginger" on Gilligan's Island was smokin' hot!... hardly a derogatory term?

And like Jon says... I wasn't aware that redheads were a separate race. If so, I guess I'm a brownhair.

OMG - if you haven't ventured over to HR and checked out the thread, you need to. Some seriously funny stuff going down.

WildIowaCat = prime candidate to be featured on the local news someday involved in some sort of tragic road rage incident.
