Thoughts on Purdue game

I havent watched them much. I blew a big lead at Nevada and I did see they couldnt run the ball very well this year at 2.2 ypc. That bodes well for the hawks as they can still shut that down.

They will probably have their backup QB in but their passing game is making a very decent 8 yards per attempt so the hawks usually have more trouble stopping the pass and will need to be stellar here. I would think Parker would want to have 5 backs in on defense much of the game (maybe play straight up on first down half the time) .

Is Purdue's speedster wideout still out with an injury???

Purdue's defense gives up points so the hawks offense has to get to work. I dont have stats on their defense on whether they give up a lot of big plays or whether teams consistently drive the ball on them.

Please add your thoughts especially about Purdue's defensive abilities, tendencies, will they blitz, etc??

Sounds like Brohm thinks Rondale Moore is doubtful for the game.

Brohm has owned Ferentz. The guy has known exactly which corner to attack and precisely when to do it. He has brought a lot of disguised pressure at the middle of the line and we have been totally unable to stop it. He doesn't have the horses on defense to completely smother us like Michigan and PSU did, but he and Fitz have made Boy Wonder look like Helen Keller out there calling plays and I see no reason for that trend to end. If the weather is decent and we can pass it, we should be able to win a nail biter, but if the middle of the line gets dominated again, I could see this being some sort of 23-20 game where the turnover margin decides the winner. In our past two meetings, we have put up a whopping 200 total yards of rushing on 75 attempts against those clowns. And in the games following ours last year, they gave up 265 to Minnesota, 385 to sconny, 142 to the Losiers and 208 to Auburn.

Nate should be able to pad his stats against a terrible Purdue defense, but you never know. Who cares at this point. We know that when we face a decent opponent we can’t do shit.

You’re so right. Brohm is an absolute mastermind for throwing at a true freshman cornerback Riley Moss last year. The year before that he threw it away from an All American Josh Jackson. Pure genius.

Iowa was super banged up on defense last year and lost a tight one. This year Purdue is super banged up and the game is at Kinnick.

It's not just throwing at them, it's when to throw it. The guy has embarrassed the shit out of Phil Parker. Did you watch last year's game?

Which part about an injured and depleted secondary did you miss? Purdue was literally built to expose that problem so congrats they did that last year. I think Moss was a walk on even.

Two years ago they scored 24 at Kinnick. That wasn’t that great of an Iowa defense. Iowa State hung 41 on that Iowa defense.

So, no PhilParker4Prez? Last year's game was strange. It seemed like Purdue had control, then Iowa came back, was on the verge of pulling it out, then the game reversed itself at the end.

After a wild roller coaster ride we were in position to kill the clock. Then came the phantom holding calls. Then the converted 4th and 2 because Hesse lost contain. Then came the prepesterous pass interference penalty after their receivers had been pushing off all day.

Tough way to lose a game. Calls aside, we need to be more stingy in the defensive backfield and pressure the QB. In the end we lost the game, not the stripes.
