I'll just say it, I'm loving this team and this defense, as this once in a lifetime Hawkeye FB season unfolds, and continues to amaze all but us TRUE believers.
This is one gritty gutty group, on both sides of the ball. They play with heart and togetherness, and have earned respect with their consistent determined play.
Adam Robinson continues to run hard and with authority, each and every play. The O-line continues to play well despite injuries, NEXT MAN IN! Our recieving corps doesn't get much love, but continues to come up BIG in BIG games, and makes plays when they're needed.
BUT the DEFENSE is the HEART and SOUL of this Iowa team, and will be remembered as 1 stellar unit for years to come. Guys just keep stepping up, so many different guys contribute, each week a new name is added to the list; Clayborn, Edds, Angerer, Binns, Hunter, Sash, Klug, I could go on, point being, that there isn't a guy who hasn't stepped up and made a play for this defense at one time or another during the year. That is special.
I'll put our group of no names up against the Alabama, Florida, USC, insert name of perennial national power of the week (Texas, Ohio State and on and on...) any day.
We are the Hawkeyes, we're not pretty, we don't have the 5 Star H.S. AA guys 2 deep, we're not the flavor of the week, all we do is WIN and get the job done week in and week out with little to no fanfare, and that's how we like it. Toe to toe, in your face, smash mouth football. WE ARE THE HAWKEYES, and sooner or later, we will get our due, but for now, enjoy the ride, and savor this year, because another like it will be another 100 years in the making.
