These crazy lineup combos have GOT to end

I'm fully aware of the fact that we missed 13 free throws, but MSU also missed like 15 threes.
What i do know after watching 30 years of basketball is this....The last 3 minutes of signature games is "winning time" and time after time after time Fran comes up with the craziest lineup combos of all time! This, ultimately, is why i believe that we constantly cant close out games. Olesani is easily our most athletic big on offense and Woody is our best post defender, but coach is constantly playing McCabe for some crazy reason at the end of big games. Tonight, with 2:56, he came in and turned it over twice and then fouled out.

This is just one example of many subs that coach does that just defies logic....its almost like he over thinks it.

I love Fran and what he's done for our program overall, but his ingame strategy is just not good when the stakes are highest. Whether its substitutions or refusing to call a TO to set up a set play when the team hasnt scored a FG in the last 12 mins of regulation has to stop.

Bingo bongo Bango

I wish the subbing was more of a mix of starters and bench. Seems like a majority of the game it is starters or bench. I want Ogelsby/Utohff out there with Gessell, Marble, White/Basabe, and Olaseni. Drives toward the basket with kick outs for three. I want to see some zone defense with Woody/Olaseni together near the basket......ugly turnovers by McCabe. This team just needs to start believing in themselves.

When a team goes on a 15 minute scoring slump I can't blame him for trying different combinations.

Mike G or Marble should be on the court at all times for offense. They need someone to create the looks for the shooters or take it to the hole themselves. Clemmon's isn't playing confident enough yet to punish the defense consistently

EXACTLY!!

Its was almost like Kfs gut feeling last stand with christiansen, Fran was going down with Mcabe no matter what. hopefully this was the final straw for this idiotic strategy at the end of games.

Fran has said on occasion that he wants McCabe on the court late in games, because he's a senior who has a lot of epxerience in crunch time. McCabe is also better at the FT line than Basabe, Woody, or Gabe.

Well I hope hes seen enough of this strategy to learn his lesson.

Not this year. Woody is shooting 75.8% from the line this year, McCabe is shooting 72.2%. It's crazy that I actually feel pretty comfortable with Woody at the line now, more so than pretty much everyone but White.
