There are no gimmies in college football

A depressed Iowa team plays with no emotion and loses to a poor Minnesota team playing their "bowl game."

Iowa prepares well, plays inspired football and upsets the #12 team in the nation 4 weeks later.

Nebraska annihilates a horrible Washington team in September by 35 points, rushing for 400 yards.

Washington loses 130-40 to Arizona, Oregon and Oregon St.

Nebraska plays Wash again. Plays with no emotion and is absolutely slaughtered.

There are no "gimmies" in college football. None.

I wouldn't want to be a Nebraska fan right now.

To be honest, i could care less. We have a nice holiday bowl trophy from last year and a 35pt a**kicking to this team a few months earlier. Washington played good, Nebraska sucked it up big time. You are right though, there are no gimmies in football ever.

I think Nebraska eventually will do very well in the Big Ten, but I think they will have to adjust their play. The Big Ten is much more physical than the Big 12. Iowa really dominated both lines of scrimmage against Misouri (Missouri dinked and doinked Iowa, but could not run the ball or stop the run). Illinois crushed Baylor on the ground. Washington really muscled Nebby tonight (surprising).

Nebraska's record this year is misleading - they really played a weak schedule IMO.

They will have to step it up next year to be competitive in the Big Ten.

Nebraska will be competitive in the Big Ten. But, they're going to have to improve their passing game. Their defense should fit right in, and the running game is good when everyone is healthy (Martinez, Helu Jr., and Burkhead were all dinged according to the announcers). But Martinez needs to improve greatly as a passer (I called the pick on that lob he threw almost as soon as he threw it, and he got away with one on his TD pass), and the o-line pass protection needs SERIOUS work, especially on third downs. Martinez and Green had almost no chance because of the tremendous amount of pressure they were seeing.
