Let me preface this....I don't believe Iowa is going to win all 5. In fact, 1 to 2 wins may be possible having us fall short of a bowl game. Losing all 5 could happen to, although I think that is unlikely, but more likely than winning all 5.
But, if Ferentz wins 3 to 5 games...and gets a bowl win....that still turns out to be an average Ferentz like season. It will be more than good enough for Barta and most Iowa fans (maybe not like the diehards here) who go to the games will have short memories and will buy more tickets for next year.
The Ferentz's will be able to sell that they improved and fixed things and we are back on schedule.
This is part of the reason why Brian is not being fired right now.....besides Kirk's iron-grip on the program and Barta. They know they can still turn this thing around to make a good enough season....even with an historically bad offense. None of the team's left on Iowa's schedule will be able to beat Iowa by 44 points unless the team completely packs it in (mainly the defense).
I don't think the defense will. This would have been the game to do just that, and the defense came out to win this game.
Iowa has Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Nebraska at home. That is favorable there. Wisconsin is looking tougher and Nebraska can score points....but neither of those teams are Ohio St or Michigan.
Although I think this may be the year Minny gets us....we have Minny's number and they are pulling a Minny right now and showing they are not all that. Purdue is the one game where I feel that is a likely loss because they own us....they can score points....Charlie Jones will have a chip on his shoulder for that game......and it is there.
The must wins:
Northwestern
Nebraska
Need at least one win out of these three
Wisconsin
Minny
Purdue
If Iowa loses to Northwestern, I think they go 0-5.
