The West....

As it stands right now

1) WI
Gap
2&3) Iowa, Nebby
4) NW
5) Purdue
Gap
6&7) IL, MN yuck....

Just my op.

I think Wisky had to lose tonite for Iowa to even have a chance at the West. Wisky schedule is easy now and Mich is not that good (harbaugh smoke and mirrors but Mich could be really good in a couple of years).

Iowa two games down in the loss column to Wisky after 3 games. Even if Iowa beats Wisky it is a hard ladder to climb

Wisconsin is running the table only to get routed in the BTC game.

Idk, OSU can put it together for one game and beat PSU but they can certainly crap the bed in the BTC. They are so up and down.

Iowa has to win out to have any chance at all. If they do that, I think Wisc will drop 1 other. There is a much better chance of Wisc losing 2 than Hawks running the table.

I think Mich is a tough matchup for Wisc, they are strong against what Wisc does offensively, the question is if Mich can score.

Just win Hawks.

Wisky has to stumble at some point. I think they are overrated as hell so it won't surprise me.
I think so too. Their Oline is great. I'm not a fan of their QB at all. I think we can give them a run for their money if we are on our game. The Iowa team that played PSU can beat them. The Iowa team that lost to MSU and beat Illinois probably not...

Unbalanced scheduling at its worst. Iowa benefited from it in the past and Wisconsin is benefiting from it this year. Wisconsin's next 4 opponents they have almost zero chance of losing to and then they get Iowa and Michigan at home after that.

With a title and potential playoff bid on the line they need to balance the schedules better.

They need to balance the divisions better. Then the importance of crossover schedule drops.
Never going to happen. The B1G wants to make sure OSU, Mich, or PSU represent in the playoff. What better way than a "weaker" division champ in B1G CC.

What's sad is that the badgers have lost like 2 or 3 starters on defense due to injury for the year and they are clearly better than everyone in the West. I say Purdue is second best team in the West.

Good teams find a way to overcome the schedule unbalance. In 2014 Iowa had the schedule advantage, Wisconsin won the West. In 2015, Wisconsin had an easier conference schedule than Iowa did, but Iowa won it. 2016 was a big advantage for Iowa, yet Wisconsin won it. This year is very unbalanced but Iowa has only themselves to blame.

I don't know about that logic. Having them all in the same division means less chance any get thru w/ less than 2 losses, and thus less likely to go to the cfp.

If Mich played OSU in Indy, one of them is gonna win and be in the playoff, right?

As they are, the divisions should be renamed "Strong Recruiting States" and "Weak Recruiting States" Not catchy, admittedly, but accurate. We'd all be able to name the teams in each, w/out memorizing.

Highly unlikely all three of those programs enter CC with two losses. Even if they split all three losing a second game? Probably not. If every team in the B1G has two losses, they probably don't deserve it anyway.

What's better to have one of the Big3 vs. a cupcake to make the CFP.

As an aside, historically before divisions Michigan and Ohio State rarely finished first and second in the standings.
