Yep, I think Coker is a good kid, probably made some dumb mistake and the university made an example of him and now he feels bad/ashamed, maybe mistreated, and is walking. I would bet this probably doesn't have to happen but it will and it is too bad. I think we lost a good kid and good player...

I fear you are correct. Too bad, because DeMatha is just one of many fine schools that produce good athletes as well as solid citizens. We could use more of them. Our loss will be Penn State's and Ohio State's gain, I fear.
 
Unless he signed some type of non-disclosure (and how would that be enforced?), we may now get the straight poop from Marcus himself.

IF this proves to be a case of the UI administration being heavy-handed, as rumored, I've got a flashback for some of you: Hunter Rawlings vs. Hayden Fry.
 
at this point all we can hope for is 1) he changes his mind and comes back or 2) he goes on facebook or twitter and gives his side.

i agree i think he was probably a good kid that made a bad choice. yet the school, team, etc should always stick to their rules. but making an example of someone is wrong.

He did say on social media that he did not do what he was accused of and he hoped everybody would stop asking because he can't say anything about it.
 
penn state is a hiding university.
ohio state hides stuff.
They did that to protect themselves. Iowa is hiding stuff to protect the player and that (listen closely) is commendable, moral, courageous, and right.
 
they are saying that the rumor/accusation is that he let someone knowingly cheat off him on a test... geez, i did that a couple times... really?
 
Herby, you are wrong. I certainly would not want the University to release information about me without my approval. If Coker wants to go public regarding the reason for his suspension, or his reason for seeking a release from his scholarship, that is entirely up to him. If he wants it handled quietly, that is his right and the University's obligation to comply.

Sally Mason has been a total failure at Iowa. Time to send her packing. The Phil Jones case will expose her incompetence this spring.

You sound like high school girl whose mom & dad told her she can't date the creepy 30 ye old Guy who delivers pizza. Don't screw up and you get to stay at Iowa.
 
I, as a student, love the privacy act...why should they be able to just release whatever information they want about any student? And Student athletes are still students (much to the chagrin of people like Herby)

Being that he's a good kid, he'll probably take the high road and say something along the lines of "it just didn't work out for me there". I doubt he wants to kick dirt on the program even if he got a raw deal.

Fill me in on Hunter Rawlings.
