The stats say a couple things.

As far as the offense goes we didn't play too bad. We averaged like 70 a game and got 68. We shot 46% which isn't terrible. Uthoff and White did their thing with Clemmons kind of taking Joks place scoring wise. Woody and Gabe just aren't on the same level as those bigs. They just aren't. And for those who were hoping JO may have one shinning moment in him... Yea not so much.

If you would have told me White would have just 1 rebound in this game I'd have laughed in your face and tried to get you to bet me your house. The rebounding numbers are scewed in a game like this cause of how few of them there would be with them shooting so well. But that stat just jumped off the page at me. Clemmons shouldn't have more offensive rebounds in a game then White does total ever.... But again that's just a microcosm of what a team shooting lights out can do. Shooting over 60 percent for the game and from 3 pt land is just all it takes to win. Most of their shots were open in rhythm and just what you'd hope for. And when they went inside their big guys were able to get easy easy looks or get fouled. I almost want to watch the game they had with NDSU again just to see how they kept it as close as they did.... Naw nevermind to that.

To me 2 stats tell the entire story, 61.5 and 62.5, those are Gonzaga's field goal percentage and 3 point percentage. Unfortunately for Iowa they played Gonzaga at the the wrong time and Gonzaga got lucky with their hot shooting. I just hope they bring some of that into their game against UCLA as it would irritate the heck out of me if Alford backed into an elite 8 game because Gonzaga had an off night shooting.

If we played as good as we did Friday and they played like they did Friday, we would have won by double digits. They are definitely the better team but they aren't THAT much better.

^^ True, I would say the hawks shot a little better than avg but the Zags were well above their avg. Just lower their shooting % to about avg and the game is close in the last 4 minutes and the hawks can play straight up, not double team and foul, and give up a lot of cheap points.

I'm not sure the dots simply connect in that manner. The match up with Davidson was a terrific draw for Iowa.

We would never play as well as we did on Friday as we would against Gonzaga. With that said.... there certainly was room for improvement in our play and Gonzaga probably won't shoot 60% from the field and 3 the next time we play them.

But the starting guards were an all to familiar five for sixteen.

Another interesting stat is that the Hawks got sixty-eight percent of the rebounds in its defensive end. In contrast, the Zags got seventy-nine percent in its defensive end.

How do you figure Gonzaga scored 86 points Friday and we scored 83?

Gonzaga actually shot a better FG% on Friday Night than Iowa did. I agree they are the better team and IMO are much better. Gonzaga is ranked #1 in the country in FG Shooting % At 52.7%. lol damn...

If Gonzaga shoots their normal 3 point %, rather than a blistering 62.5%, , it would have been an 8 point game.
