Does anyone think it would be cool to work for one of these firms? Does anyone know if there is more than one that does this sort of thing in college coaching searches?
A good AD doesn't need a search firm to help them identify a good coach. Most AD's have a list they keep just in case they have to fire a coach and replace them. That's why I am not real confident that Barta knows what he is doing or can identify the up and coming coaches.
Iowa State Gene Chizik and Paul Rhoads??? Wasn't Rhoads hired within 2 or 3 days after Chizik left?Name ONE division 1 program in either football or basketball in the last twenty years that hasn't used a search firm when replacing a head coach.
I'll be waiting...
I would have to question an AD's intelligence if they did Not use a search firm. They do the research, have the connections, keep things confidential, do the back ground check, determine the level of interest, etc, etc.
No AD has that information at hand. Even if you had what you thought was the best candidate, you would be a complete id10t not to hire a firm to make sure the guy didn't have skeleton's in the closet.
Pollard didn't hire a search firm?
