Iowa is a team that is capable of playing well and competing with some of the best teams in the country. They are not, however, an elite squad. Frankly, today's results simply re-enforces an objective view of the team. The defense is not a shut-down defense. It seldom pressures and gets to the QB. The opponent never has to be wary of a blitz. It's linebackers are not fleet-footed. And we have at least two defensive backs that can be beaten rather routinely. The offense is better than I expected this year. The OL and running game has been very good. Kudos to Adam Robinson. And although the QB can shine at times, Stanzi is too often not an accurate enough passer. The receivers have done a very good job. Can't say enough about McNutt's transition from QB to WR. The coaching staff is questionable. Today that was more than evident. Could we have gotten more conservative after Greenwood's interception. Were we playing not to lose at that point, because it sure looked like we were not playing to win. Wisconsin couldn't have called better plays to doom the Hawkeyes momentum after the interception. Were all the coaches brain-dead on the obvious Wisconsin fake punt. At the very least Iowa's special teams coach must have been. We do have a special teams coach don't we? Oh well, stupidity will lose more ball games than just about anything else, and today Iowa had several helpings of that dish. It's too bad because, in the end, they gave this one away!
