The other teams in the Big Ten figured us out.

That's why they are shooting so much better. They figured out that they can often score easily in transition and they've figured out how to find an open outside shooter.

Unfortunately this will probably continue into the BTT. And we'll lose in Rd 1 or Rd 2. But really there's no point in addressing this problem now because the season is almost over.

What I'm hoping is that when we reach the NCAA tourney our style of play will again catch teams off guard. With little time to prepare Iowa is a tough match-up. But the problem is our seed just keeps getting worse and worse.

There will be some questions heading into next year about Fran's coaching and his playing style. It seems every team in the Big Ten suddenly has the formula for beating Iowa.

I can't put my finger on it, but something happens at halftime of these games that drastically swings the game in the opponent's favor. I don't think Fran's system is broken, and I don't think it isn't fixable, but something at halftime decides the game.

Halftime scores for the last 5 games:

Iowa/Minnesota 47-51
Iowa/Indiana 52-49
Iowa/Purdue 50-37
Iowa/MSU 41-39
Iowa/Illinois 34-29

Iowa had the lead at halftime in each one of their last 5 games except for Minnesota who shot almost 70%. In each one of those games Iowa scored less points in the second half than they did in the first and in each one of those games Iowa's opponent outscored them in the second half.

So is Fran making adjustments at half that aren't working? Are opponent's seeing something that they are exploiting in the second half? I certainly don't think teams have a blueprint on how to beat Iowa as it sure doesn't seem to work for them in the first half, only the second half.

Just from my personal eyeball test it seems like Iowa runs up and down the court a lot less in the second half. It seems like they stand around a lot more and settle into half court offense more than in the first half. I'm not sure if that's the opponent playing tighter defense or not, but there seems to be a drastic change between the first and second half in every game of this slump

I think there is something to this. There are a lot of good coaches in the BT. Fran will make some adj. next year. But I think next years team will be much different from this years team. Everything seems to revolve around RM and he will be gone. Utoff and Jok are two our more talented guys and they will need to be key cogs in next year offense. Gessel and Woody will be upper classmen, White and Josh will be a Sr
