There seems to be a lot of salivating going on about the potential match-ups with Nebraska and Iowa, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, etc. The same hold true if a bunch of the B12 teams head out west to the Pac-10 as well. Regular games between Texas and USC, etc.
While history and tradition would indicate that you now will have a bunch of really good, strong teams competing against each other on a regular basis, over time that situation will change dramatically.
Assume the B10 pulls in 2-3 more teams in addition to Nebby. Everyone can't go undefeated. Initially, it will be exciting, but over time, some of these teams are going to fall to the middle of the pack, 4-4 type of records. After all, someone is going to beat someone, or perhaps, everyone just beats up on each other, who knows.
Remember, PSU was a historic powerhouse when they were independent. I think there was a strong thought on their side that they would continue to be that same powerhouse when they joined the B10. History has shown that while they have fielded some good teams, they have also taken their share of beatings as well.
As Jon said, maybe 8-4 is the new 10-2.
