The Opening Tip: Iowa on Road for Midweek Tilt with Purdue

Well it’s about to all change. Time to start a different narrative for this series. Streaks are like rules, they can be broken.

Updated computer rankings after last night's games:

Iowa checks in at No. 22 in NET, 16 in Sagarin and 13 in Ken Pom.

Purdue comes in at 38, 28 and 29.

How did the word "tilt" become a synonym for a game? Anybody got a Google machine?

I can't remember which specific novel but in the GoT books, I'm pretty sure characters referred to a joust as a tilt. I'm guessing it may have come from there.

The NCAA finally has a tool/metric where Iowa isn’t in the 50s? It must be broken...

Jousting had been referred to as tilting long before George RR martin started writing. Don Quixote was tilting at windmills in a novel published in 1605.

Oh I was just citing where I read it. I know that Martin didn't coin the term.

ESPN BPI gives Iowa a 34.2% chance to win

RealtimeRPI has Iowa losing 78-75
Torvik has Iowa losing 68-66
