The Maryland loss lesson in disguise

I thought the first half defense By Iowa was the best I have seen in years. It really was the defense that even gave them a chance in that game given the poor shooting. I think they have actually played below their capabilities in the last several games. What worries me most is their over confidence in how good of a team they think they are. I think if they understand they have a lot of areas to improve, they could actually meet their goal of being in the final 4. If they think they are there now they may not even get past the first round. I think they learned one lesson from the first brutal Michigan St loss and that is not to panic when the other team is on a run and start throwing up quick poor shots. they have pretty much corrected that problem. Now hopefully , they can see how great defense can keep you in any game. Also, in the Maryland game , they still made many ridiculous turnovers. If they clean up their game a little and play defense the same way they played against Maryland combine that with their offense firing on all cylinders; they may surprise us on how far they go. The key is to learn from their losses and be humble to how much more they need to improve.

It seems like this team has problems getting a little too full of themselves. It crushed them last year. This year it seems like it shows up here and there. I feel like Cook and Bohannon are the main culprits.

Don’t leave it up to the refs. Learn how to close out games better and get off to better starts. Hopefully they learned a lot from every loss. I think they’ve been playing better D for a while now, tho I am told they aren’t still.

You are correct per sports-reference's advanced gamelog. (DRtg is the estimated points allowed per 100 possessions for those that don't know)
