The land that Defense forgot...

The "big" 12. good god what a display of bad tackling, flat footed pass defense, etc. Oklahoma vs WVU over 1100 combined yards in 3 quarters.

I could almost forgive them if the defenders at least looked like they gave a damn, but god the angles they take and the poor, half-assed arm tackles where they lunge from 4 yards away make me want to puke.

And people think OU is a playoff caliber team?

EDIT: And it really says something when Iowa State has one of the best defenses in the conference.

They tackle as if they're afraid to get hurt

They really do. The defensive coaching and mindset in the Big 12 is just nonexistant, and worse, a cyclical argument. They have good offenses, because they have poor defenses, but because they have good offenses, but because they have poor defenses but because...

As a football fan, and former defensive lineman, it disgusts me.

Last play I saw encapsulates it perfectly. OU pitches to the RB, and the WVU safety has it sniffed out. BUT, rather than close the gap, square his hips, wrap up, and drive his feet for the tackle, he comes in at 10 million mph, dives, and whiffs completely. Instead of a two yard loss, OU picks up 5 and is in 3rd and 2 rather than 3rd and 8.

Credit to WVU, they caught OU trying the same play again and made the TFL this time, but the first attempt was just pitiful.

Okay, MORE shameless bitching.

WHY. IN. THE. HELL. Would WVU rush ONLY 3 on a critical 4th and 2? They've gotten ZERO pressure from the base look all night, and Murray is NOT a QB you want to feel comfortable in the pocket.

This type of play and coaching just baffles me.
