  • What was your projection for this year?
  • I predicted we would be 6-6 and that looks like the team we're getting
  • We're one bad hire away from being Nebraska
  • I know you don't want to hear it but sometimes it really is about execution
  • Iowa has always been a team with very little margin for error under Ferentz
What else?

2 freshman tackles

next year= 3 starting senior linebackers graduated and we lost Wadley and Butler and probably JJ.... and on and on....

Don't forget his own personal excuse "I was a petulant child a couple seasons ago and that wasn't a good fit, but now I'm going to look down on anyone who is upset with this level of performance.

and that's really the point....you can ALWAYS find an excuse or a reason or reasons for this or that. And you can't prove a negative, so you can't prove kirk "wrong" for something he didn't do. but folks....going for 2, down 9 points, with about a minute left in the game knowing that you needed to recover an onside kick and score another touchdown but if you missed the 2 point conversion to remain down by 9, you literally CAN NOT win? THAT is not a person I want coaching my program.

Exactly, I hope one of our brave reporters asks him the thinking that went into that "decision".

And no, i won't accept: "well, we didn't want to go to overtime (at home) so we were going to go for the win in regulation." I will not accept that.

The 2 point conversion was next level ineptness that was insanity. Unreal they went for 2 then!!!

Well, Jon seems to be laying into the offense and Kirk's going for 2 decision so far in the podcast. I wonder if he's starting to wake up? lol just kidding

I'm sure it will be lacking any real thought, it will just be dismissed with some snarky response because you don't have to admit to such a bone-headed decision if you've got 8 more years on your contract.

well, maybe we've all been wrong about kirk. it appears he has taken us to the next level after all.

I’m all in for change but won’t lie I’m worried about what happens when we do. Iowa has absolutely no room for error on the next hire!! It won’t happen for a couple years yet but it does make me pause wondering about the what if’s..

the reason a lot of us are upset is because we DO have talent on this team. I believe we actually have a lot of it. we could find a coach that can win 7 games at iowa. more importantly, we can find a coach that can win 9 games at iowa. i'm not afraid. but, maybe barta isn't the right guy to do that.

I understand your point, that's why we need to send Barta on his way first or at least not allow him to be involved in the coaching decision/search.

Barta can’t be the guy To make the hire and that’s what’s scares me TK and why I’m content with what we have at this moment

Jim Leonhard is that guy. It's the best time to make that move. They can work out a retirement deal for Kirk so he doesn't end his career being fired and then Brian can find a place being an OL coach somewhere. Seems like an obvious thing to do, but Gary Barta ugh...

I mean look, WUs has had 3 coaches in the last 5 seasons. I believe all 3 have taken teams to the B1G championship game. Come on....it ain't rocket science. AND...with Chryst there for the next 10 years, we won't really have to worry about leonhard leaving for WUs anytime soon.
