What's the story with Brock?

He's rated as a top-10'ish back, but his offers don't really match that.

Is he a riser, and expected to pick up some "big boy" offers soon?

Or is he really 25 years old?
 
If you look at his offer list and his final five, it's clear he wants to stay in the region. That probably kept him from getting a broader range of offers nationally.

In addition, he as considered a basketball prospect before his junior season of football. Iowa was his first offer for football during a junior day last March. So, he wasn't on the football recruiting radar as long as other.

Kid is a player. I'm not worried about his offer list.
 
Rob - Do you think the staff has a favorite among their recent QB offers or is it now simply first come / first served for the job? How might they influence the process if it's not first come / first served?
 
It's hard to say which one(s) they prefer. I don't think they would have offered all four if they were not prepared to take a commitment.

The caveat to that is that they want the players to visit first and I can't see anyone in this group committing to Iowa without a visit here first. So, that will play a role in the process. If you remember, had Petras not committed the night before Wilson was scheduled to visit in December, the latter may have ended up as Iowa's QB in the '18 class.

I do think the evaluation process is continuous, from football to fit. So, they board can change over time.
 
I'm real excited about Brock. Good size and speed, good wiggle, and exceptional balance. I'm crossing my fingers that it's not Eno 2.0, but at this point I'd be surprised if he didn't end up a Hawk. Could be sooner that we think too, as on another site somebody posted a tweet about how he is getting tired of the recruiting process.
 
Brock and Bell would be nice additions for sure.
It's actually coming together rather nicely. Love the fact that we are getting quality Ol guys coming in at 280 plus. Any rb recruit has to love how the Ol is shaping up and how the future looks. Same with a qb recruit and to a lesser degree wr and Te's as well. Can't throw or run without a good ol.
Haven't heard much about dl recruits??? We have some talent coming up at lb and well we are dbu so..

Brock is definitely solid, and our prospects are looking very good there.

That said, my personal take after reviewing tape, is that Goodson could even be better. He has outstanding vision and is a natural at reading his blocks. Any updates there?

Also, Jacardia Wright to me is an underrated recruit. Not saying he is at the same level, but his tape reminds me a lot of David Johnson's when he was in H.S. Similar body types and running styles. He doesn't "cut on a dime" as well as Goodson, but is fluid and has an extra gear.

I did a little research and agree, he could fit in very well in our system. Plus I just read he is pretty interested in us as well. When people start to say, you remind me of, that's a pretty good sign.

Getting them both..... That would be perfect.

Yes, and Goodson did list us as part of his top schools recently, though TOS has him as a strong West Virginia lean.

Given that his official visit is already out of the way and he's an Alabama kid, it's hard to envision us staying in the running late but you never know. Wright is being recruited as an athlete right now, so hard to say where he'd end up, but I do like our chances there.
 
He would get to rise to the top with Jayden here.
I'm extremely high on Jayden. If he can keep his head down, take care of business, he is going to be good.

I'm very high on him too, and it doesn't hurt having that Alabama connection, but, it's always going to be a big challenge to overcome the demographics with kids from the SE.
 
Well he has to go wherever he thinks will help him get where he wants to go.
Like I said, we usually do have a really good ol to run or pass behind, but I think our ol is trending even higher as well.
It's absolutely amazing what we have done on the d side as well.
I've mentioned this before, I think it is very possible we have more nflers on this roster than any before it and we have made plenty of noise before.
