The GREAT thing about the win

This is vindication for the entire season.
The win silences all the critics and nay-sayers and quashes all of the negativity swirling around out there.
When you win a game like this after all that has happened there is no room for Negative Nancy's and the badmouthers and detractors

THERE ARE ONLY POSITIVES TO COME OUT OF THIS.

Congrats to the STUDENT-ATHLETES who put in hard work and effort, they deserve this.

Winning Isn't everything but tonight and for a while to come it will be the ONLY thing we need as a "takeaway" from the season. While the win doesn't solve everything (and in all of life there will always be bad apples in the bunch, but the hawks didn't let them spoil the whole bushel), it puts the negatives to bed and all those people who are TROLLS can go looking for dinner, move along nothing to see here just KIDS WORKING HARD AND HAVING FUN!

Really? Vindication when you had legitimate high expectations yet only went 7-5 and won a crapshoot bowl game? And, yes, winning a bowl game is nice, but every one is a crapshot.

My god we have such low standards and expectations.

Obviously, things did not go the team's way this year as they did in 2009, but you have to look at the opponent Iowa played last night not the bowl. Missouri was ranked #12 and they were an excellent football team that should have been playing in a higher bowl game. Iowa came out and took care of business and it showed that the players can rally and win despite the regular season lapse.

no it doesn't. look at the first response in this thread and many other threads on this board. people will still find things to complain about. i'm totally with your idea though.

obviously this season didn't go the way most of us hoped. it happens. forget all of that. we had one game to win last night and the boys took care of business. THATS what matters

It will help a great deal with the people we don't complain all the time!! Some of these guys only complain and probably still live with Mom in her basement (you know who you are).........Great game and hopefully we can get back on track as a team and program. GO HAWKS!!!

Anyone who looks at the o-line (including the ages of the guys on it) and that running back and doesn't get excited about the future is an idiot. Ferentz's teams earlier in the decade were great based on o-line play and it looks like he is moving back to those roots, with some big talent upgrades at the skill positions on offense. If that defense gets things tightened up a bit and JVB is a decent game manager, we've got a really nice ball club for the next few years.

My gawd, is this an actual serious post from you? You're so sarcastic all of the time, I don't know how to take it.

No it isn't. Not even close.

Coker's trucking made me forget Clayborn's sucking.

...we lost to Minnesota that won a total of 3 games...

It hardly silences all the critics. We played well and beat a top 12 team last night, which only begs the question for many: where was this all year?

Vindication for the entire season? No. This season as a whole will always be regarded as a disappointment. But, the seniors helped to get a CRUCIAL win for the program's ability to move forward. It doesn't change the fact that this year was a disappointment, but it may prevent the next couple years from being disappointments like 2006 and 2007 were after the 2005 season and Outback Bowl loss.

When the announcer said in the 3rd quarter or so "you know, that is the first time we have metioned his name tonight" I was thinking the exact same thing. Don't know what his deal is but it makes me wish that she was around this season. He seemed to play better...
