The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

The Good

1. WE WON!
2. Coker looked like a Big 10 RB tonight. 22 for 113 is the kind of stat line we need out of him.
3. The D, while making an appearance in the other two parts of this post did a lot of really good things, and got pressure on the QB.
4. Hyde. He's gone next year, so enjoy him this year.
5. DeAndre Johnson ran the ball twice and looked good. He'll be a HN.com fan favorite by about 5 PM tomorrow.
6. Meyer on FG
7. They played to win and didn't lose.
8. Kinnick looked great

The Bad

1. KMM. Too many drops again.
2. No TE attempts.
3. How many times do we need to get burned by our oppositions #1 WR against our LB? We finally made an adjustment
4. Meyer on kickoffs.
5. Kickoff coverage was abhorrent.
6. 3rd Down Defense was non existant, it's always been a problem and it was tonight.

The ugly

1. Prater. You would think Hyde was the one who came back for his senior year. Not the same player.
2. Offensive playcalling in the first half was head scratching.
3. It appears that balance to KOK is to pass the entire first half and run the entire second. Maybe at some point we can do both for both halves?
4. Our defense better get better conditioned and fast, we have serious serious depth issues that don't appear to be getting any better.

Great to get the win. In the 4th Qtr, we resembled an Iowa football team again. Very nice to see!

We allowed him to do what he's good at (plus it helped we really dominated up front)...going from memory, I don't think we ran too many stretch plays with him; rather, we ran inside zone with him almost exclusively and it allowed him to keep his pads square. One notable exception was that extremely questionable 3rd and 8 on the first drive, when we not only ran him outside but outside on the left hash, which if not converted is the tougher of the hashes to convert a FG from that close.

You forgot;

The Bad: I miss out on the entertaining meltdown of Iowa football fans after a loss that I was so looking forward to.

Hyde is not going anywhere. He is simply not fast enough to play corner in the NFL.
If he does come back, maybe he can play safety next year and give the pros some film to grade him on.

All things being equal - I'll take a Hawk win and lose out on the meltdown entertainment.

Really? I think Hyde is faster than you think. Not elite speed however. If is puts on some pounds, could be a good safty.
