Like many, I held out some hope that the Hawks would be prepared last night and play well (win or lose). However, that was obviously a dream. Unlike many, however, I had not wavered in my support of Coach Ferentz. But while watching this abomination of a game, I found myself finally wishing Iowa would make a change. With 2 weeks to prepare for this game, I believed we might see a better scheme and better fundamentals. We didn't see it. I thought we might see some fight and some energy. We didn't see it. I thought we might at least try something different. We didn't see it.
My belief is that KF is a decent coach for a different time but not for today. The lack of any changes in philosophy have left Iowa way behind the curve. My time as a KF supporter is done. My time as a Hawk will never end. And so I hope that KF sees the handwriting on the wall and steps away from his job (I know this is a fool's dream) and leaves with some grace and a little dignity.
Always a Hawkeye.
