The disconnect for me is offering a guy with limited vision of how the game is currently played and a reputation for stubbornly resisting change, a 10 year contract with absolutely no meaningful performance criteria. Look, I don't want change for just change sake, there needs to be significant gain in order for change to be justified. But as Jon Miller has observed, the product is stale (and that began years ago) and allowing KF to continue the GD experiment is not going to bring the necessary improvement; thinking otherwise is pure wishful thinking.
But dji9424, we're only one bad hire away from something much worse, we need to stick with KF! That's possible but I believe there are plenty of candidates that could step in and bring us a more entertaining and successful brand of football at Iowa and if our leadership is smart, they should already be developing the succession plan. I don't know what KF's intentions are but if our AD just sits around until KF announces his retirement from Iowa, where does that leave us?
If the AD is doing his job, he needs to be thinking about the vision for Iowa football now, not 3, 4, 5, or 6 years from now when KF decides to retire. They need to use this time to plan for what they want, because if they don't, they will once again be scrambling to do the best they can without the proper preparation.
