it explains when coker motioned that he wanted to come out because he was gassed they left him in. it would make sense. he was incredibly choked up in the post game interview as well.
have no idea about what the OP is insinuating with an assault.

Check this out: the police report quoted in the Press Citizen says the incident occurred between 1:15 and 1:30 on Friday the 28th of October and Iowa was presumably on the way to or in Minneapolis getting ready to play the Gophers on the next day Saturday....

i'm saying that i don't think that was the OP's intention. i'm open to being wrong.
someone has to know when the team went to Minnesota for that game. i have no idea. it was a 2:30 game, so very possible they could have gone sometime friday afternoon.

yeah coker had 717 in 7 games before and 667 in 5 games after(against much stronger competition) kind of kills your argument.
