I will agree with the non-conference in the interest of time.

For conference schedule:

I could see reversing Penn State and Purdue from "L" to "W", while switching UM and MSU from "W" to "L". But putting a "W" next to Northwestern?! I have qualms about doing that in ANY year since 2005...

Here is my stab at it.

Tenn Tech- W
@ISU-W
Pitt-W
LA Monroe-W
@PSU-W (I will always put this as a win until proven otherwise)
NW-L (I will always put this as a loss until proven otherwise)
Indiana-W
@Minny-W
Michigan-W
MSU-W
@Purdue-W
@Nebraska-L

10-2 (6-2)

We will play LSU in the Capital One Bowl.

Agree with this, but I think we lose to one or both of the Michigan teams. The Michigan game depends on if RRod is there, and MSU will be a tough team again. Toss up on those 2 games.

13-0, Championship. Coker Heisman. Kirk AP coach of the year, Vandenberg wins the Chuck Long award (Name of award gets changed) Mike Daniels wins Bednarik.

Mark it down.

I REALLY ought to save this in a Word doc for next December...nah, if you don't have dreams, you have nightmares! :)

IMO the key game on the schedule is the Northwestern game, they return a lot of starters including Persa. If Iowa wins that I think there is a chance the our side of the division could be already be determined before the outcome of the Nebraska game with the schedule Nebraska has. At worst I think the Husker game would determine the divisional champ.

Michigan doesn't worry me. This offensive line and Coker should cut through that defense like a hot knife through butter. MSU is at home and I like us in that one. Actually unless Martinez has improved his passing greatly Nebraska doesn't scare me.

I'll go with 8-4 and a trip to the Outback or Gator Bowl.

Two assumptions: 1) Sash, Mcnutt, & Prater return. 2) finally a year of good health

The schedule really doesn't look that tough. To be honest, I doubt Iowa loses those three games but I think they'll lose 3-4 games somewhere but I just don't know where those losses are going to come from.

Penn state and Nebreska look like only games we won't be favored in. Maybe could be favored in PEnn state, MSU not 100 to be favored. I'm not going to go and pick a 10-2 record or even 9-3, but that does look like a very favorable schedule.

Tennessee Tech - W - Should be another typical season opener (excluding UNI from 2009). Hawks score 30-40 points and allow a cheap score when the 2nd and 3rd stringers are in.

at Iowa State - W - ISU loses the core of it's offense and as of right now does not have a clear picture of who will be under center. Might be Tiller, might be the hot JC prospect Steel Jantz. Either way game two isn't enough time to get the system in order.

Pittsburgh - W - The stache is gone and Pitt wasn't really that good this season. Pitt should still be trying to discover itself at this point.

Louisiana-Monroe - W - Good roll over team just like Ball St was this season. Gives the guys a chance to work some kinks out before hitting the Big 10.

at Penn State - W - They weren't really impressive on O this year and they lose their best RB to graduation. Possible coaching turmoil in the offseason may affect this as well.

Northwestern - L - I just can't in good faith mark this a W until we show we can beat them consistently. Like ISU in the late 90's early 2000's Iowa needs to realize that NW puts a little more emphasis on this game than others and we have to prepare accordingly.

Indiana - W - More turmoil after Lynch. This should be a phone it in game.

at Minnesota - W - No way they shoud have beaten us this season. Payback is a ***** and this time it shouldn't be sub 20 degrees and dark for gametime.

Michigan - W - Sounds like DickRod may be on the way out. It'll take new coach time to get the team back on track.

Michigan State - W - MSU is a good team like this year but we handled them with ease.

at Purdue - W - I have to admit, not playing them the last two years I have barely noticed they existed. Still, Purdue doesn't scare me that much.

at Nebraska - L - Lincoln is a tough place to play in and they will be amped playing us in their inaugural Big 10 season.

Based on everything on paper, we could hit 10 wins. However, as with this year unexpected events happen and other teams do still show up to play. I can certainly see losing to a team or two that I have listed as wins, especially PSU and MSU.

Non-conference: 4-0
@PSU: W until further notice
NW: L until further notice
Indiana: W
@Minnesota: W
Michigan: W if RR gets canned (D-Rob won't really fit if that happens), L if he doesn't
MSU: W (I'm cautious about this one, but they lose an awful lot on both sides of the ball)
@Purdue: toss up here. If they're all healthy, this is a classic trap game. I'll play it safe and call it a loss
@Nebraska: W if Martinez doesn't improve greatly as a passer (he'll have to without Niles Paul to throw to), L if he does.

So, worst-case is 7-5, best-case 11-1. 9-3 sounds pretty reasonable to me.

Yet we continue to lose to those god damn wildcats so I could see a loss.

We own PSU the same way NW owns us. PSU is a W until proven otherwise, and NW is a L until proven otherwise. However, they were a much better team after they switched QB's. They do lose quite a bit though, so who knows.
