In 1951, Mickey Mantle made his MLB debut in an exhibition game vs. the Brooklyn Dodgers. Scully called the game.

Tonight, Bryce Harper makes his regular season debut vs. the LA Dodgers. Scully is still on the mic for the Dodgers.

Scully is awesome. The dude never stops talking and provides so much information it's incredible when you think about how old he is. Don't care for the Dodgers but they have an ICON in the booth..

I've been a Dodger fan for a long time, and I don't care what month it is, it doesn't seem like baseball season until I hear Vin call a game. Unlike virtually every other MLB announcer, he entertains without being an annoying homer.

Too be honest for some of us Vin Scully calling the game of the week with Tony Koubek back in the day and later in the World Series at times was unbearable to listen to while watching baseball..

Granted... if you were a Dodger homer or a "George Will" baseball snob it may have sounded good... for the rest of Cubs, Cardinals or Tigers fan he sounded like and still does a pompous blow hard.

Anyone know Vin did some football too?

Not much to say but "remarkable"...really stretches the mind to think what a piece of living history Scully is. An American icon, to be sure.
