That's the reason why you needed to get Rudock experience last season

well I know a lot of people are going to say that

I'm not sure it mattered but regardless it is one of the semi-autistic conservative rituals that ferentz has with not playing the back up qb.

Ferentz has a lot of alien philosophies that lack intelligence and are pretty much not copied by anyone alse.

However back in the day he used to get away with it

not anymore and it just looks like a broken record

Not true...the playcalling in the second half was beyond poor. They were jumping routes because they new what was coming. Chuck long kept saying throw outside the hash...well they did and that is where the final int came. They weren't afraid of him throwing in the middle of the field. We have a 6'7 mismatch in the middle...use him

he made a bad decision in the last possession...fine that's on him. If you didn't notice, he played the first half, so he got more meaningful experience and more of it today. No doubt, the last int was on him....but we should have been running a rollout or screen...something safe. He's going to be fine.

I know you probably don't want to hear from me right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if you all find out Rudock got hurt during his first INT. He was playing really well until then. Still think you guys have a solid QB there...FWIW.

from his profile:

enisthemenace has not made any friends yet

Seriously, thanks I think the hawks might win 7 games this year. I also think they have a fair amount of upside

Scratch where it itches. Beat the sheite out of your non-conference opponents 56-3 and let your 2nd and 3rd string players get to play most of the third and all of the fourth quarters. Kirk when it comes to offense your not worthy to carry Hayden's jock.

Did you ever stop to think that's the reason why Jake didn't get any experience last season?

But besides that, I am sure your point is valid. He would have certainly put up 300 yards if he took a few snaps down 3 TD's against Penn St. last year. That would have prepared him for a forth quarter rally.

I honestly don't see how taking snaps during mop up minutes and handing the ball off would have changed anything today. Jake made a bad throw at a critical point in the game when it mattered most. No mop up duty is going to put that kind of pressure on a QB in a matter that would have impacted today. My opinion is that we showed a lot of improvement today, however good teams find ways to win ballgames. We're simply not there yet, but I'm still optimistic about this season.

It doesn't matter what kind of experience it is..."mop up" or otherwise...game experience is valuable. Not many can come in after two years of not taking one single live snap and be effective.

And it wasn't just the interception. The false start penalty was major and Ferentz admitted that in a post game interview. Those are the kind of mistakes that have greater potential to be avoided IF a player has game experience.

For the record, I don't blame Rudock. Not his fault he hasn't been adequately prepared and yet is expected to perform as though he has been.

The way I look at it is:

Maybe a 20% chance some game snaps might have helped in that situation.

100% chance it wouldn't have hurt in that situation.
