That's same offense that Bo Ryan used. This is what Butler University used. This is what Todd Licklighter used here.
It's what killed us tonight.

They cheat, hack, foul, and try to get away with it as much as they can. Earlier in the year with the emphasis on freedom of movement they struggled because the refs would not let them get away with it. Now that the refs have gone back to letting them get away with all that dirty play things have changed. I wish that the refs would stick with what they started. Earlier in the year games were more exciting. Now that they allow the 50 point hack fests it's just not good basketball.

MSU likes to play a lot of hands-on defense, besides having a coach that usually has his team playing the best this time of year, the change in officiating could explain State's recent success.

The only time I seen us really take advantage of the way the game was being called, or not being called, was the second half of the Purdue game. We can't be all upset about freedom of movement emphasis missing if we won't attempt to adjust our defense accordingly.

But it doesn't help that our play calls are very basic, there hasn't been too many double screen plays for jok, just pretty basic curls off screens. Yes our shooting is down, but that isn't the only explanation for why our offense has recently been so painful to watch. Our assist are down, the ball movement is dreadful.

If you read the rules, any time a defensive player has 2 hands on an offensive player with the ball at the same time, it is a foul.
People talk about there being a lot of gray area in basketball officiating and there is, however, the hand checking rules are pretty much black & white and they're not being enforced.

I liked the quick hand check foul called on Wagner. They let both teams get away with murder then call 1 random touch foul.

Izzo doesn't have some super secret coaching strategy for getting his players to play good in March. It's as simple as this. He recruits great players. Players try their hardest in the post season. Great players win when they try their hardest. Officials giving up on calling fouls as the year goes on has to help too.
