Thank You Eric May

Just want to Thank Mr. May for his services as an Iowa Hawkeye over the last 4 years. Really hope the Hawks make the Dance so he can have a taste.

Agreed. I was at times critical of May's performance throughout his Iowa career, but he wore the role of senior well at the end of the season. Great job this year, Eric.

Probably nobody has bee more critical of Eric May in his career than me. I don't think anyone saw this kind of season coming from May this year. He has far exceeded any expectations that I had for him heading into this season.
Eric was able to just play ball this year with no amount of pressure and I think you will see players in the future do this as Iowa has a roster now that is littered with talent and still gaining. No one player has to be "that guy" every game and even when you aren't expected to, when there isn't a lot of talent around everyone with some talent feels pressure.
Solid career and another Senior gets a great send off under Fran, great to see him have success when there was so much doubt heading into the season and accepting who he is as a player and playing above his role at times.

I would also like to express thanks to both Eric and Chris for sticking with the program and helping to get things turned around. I haven't seen this posted yet so thought I would share as it is a nice piece on the May brothers.

I've been down on May in the past, as well. Our current sports editor was very down on him for about half of this season, still wondering why other players weren't taking more of May's minutes. But I have been very impressed with May's play this year, right from the get go. He's easily been Iowa's most consistent player, and lately you can see the clock ticking in his head, and his play is reflecting that. Even on a night when he scores 2 points (senior night), he puts up 6 assists and 5 boards.

These past three senior captains (Cole, Gatens, May) are all guys who I wish could be around next year to really bask in the glow of what they started. They will fade from the minds of many Hawkeye fans as time goes by, but I'll fondly remember each of them and their importance in building what Fran will ultimately accomplish here.

Great post, especially the last paragraph.
