Thank goodness we dont have a coach like this

Saw clips of this presser on the local news last night and here is a just some of the transcript. He sounds like a babbling hillbilly when he talks and I would be embarrassed if anybody represented the state of Iowa like this. In other words, he is a perfect fit for the Gophers.

On a more serious note, he said that he has had about 20 seizures since having one on the sidelines during the New Mexico State game. That is very scary.

So he sounds like Tom Brands and Norm Parker:rolleyes:

Not even close. Dig up a clip of this presser if you havent seen it. Its almost as if he tries too hard to be the "down to earth, i've never had anything handed to me" guy.

I'll have to check it out. I've heard Brands say some pretty interesting comments with reporters in the room before. I guess as long as he wins, it doesn't really bother me.

Kill is an excellent coach and his kids love him and play hard for him. If his health permits, he will build a winner at Minny.

You couldn't be more wrong on this one.

I hope not, keeping Minnesota down is good for Iowa. I would rather see Minnesota remain at the bottom of the Big Ten. :D

I saw a interview and he sounds like my old neighbor who took the bed off a pickup with axe. They both ended up in the hospital as well.

I think Kill is going to build a winner in MN or at least back to what they were under Mason.

That said, I have been a little surprised by how downhome country he sounds. Aw shucks. Seams weird up here in MN. I'm used to more Scandinavian, Norwegian, Fargo-ese in outstate and more yuppie dad-soccer moms in the Cities. :)

Minor language for those at work. Damn's and Hell's. Maybe something a little more vulgar...cant remember what all was included.

In all seriousness why do you hire a guy with these kinds of medical issues? The deserves to make a living but you need your HC on the field every week. The "Win one for Jerry" will get old after the 3rd or 4th time you use that to rally your team.

I think the Gophers actually hit a home run with Kill. There are a lot of similarities with Ferentz. No shortcuts. Back to basics. Keep it simple for the kids, but make sure they know how to block and tackle. Like Ferentz, he also seems to be a coach's coach, the kind of guy other coaches always talk about.

There's no reason to get down on Jerry Kill for that interview. The guy is just being who he is. I have no problem with that whatsoever. I can think of several well spoken, college football coaches who I doubt I would enjoy being friends with if I knew them personally. Jerry Kill might lack some polish, but he's a football coach not a politician or an attorney. I could enjoy spending time with someone Jerry Kill-like, because at least what you see is what you get rather some pretensious jack-wad.

Contrary to the title of this post, Jerry Kill is probably closer to Ferentz in style, substance and philosophy than 99% of the coaches out there. I don't understand the reaction to his press conference. Is it because he used the word ain't a few times?

Ferentz and Kill are both old school.

The guy was worshipped by the fans at his last jobs . No question he is an upgrade from the previous Gopher coach . He'll have them competitive before too much longer .

A lot of stupid and/or ignorant people have a Southern drawl.

Not everyone with a Southern drawl is somehow inherently stupid and/or ignorant.

Does Hayden sound like a "babbling hillbilly," too?

Honestly why do you need to get past the second paragraph of this story to answer why he went a little off the deep end:

The Minnesota coach, who was hospitalized last week after his seizure during the New Mexico State game, was feisty and highly entertaining in his weekly news conference on Tuesday. Kill even used some rather salty language while previewing the North Dakota State game and hitting on other topics such as his health (maybe spending time with Bobby Knight this week influenced some of Kill's word choices).

1. Trying to prove he's healthy by going banana sammich
2. He spent time with Bob Knight

the hayden fry clip - all you guys who biatch about iowa's offense should listen to the 1st 30 seconds.

KF, historically, runs heavy early. why? listen to the 1st 30 seconds......
