Without a doubt Texas just doesn't want to look like the bad guy. Bill Self had a comment that the Big 12 can easily survive a loss of just Nebraska. It makes no sense why Texas suddenly couldn't be a part of the Big 12 if only Nebraska goes to the Big Ten. Especially with many other schools that do want to keep it together.
In fact with Nebraska leaving, Texas can have an even bigger say in the Big 12. They could start their own TV network too. If Texas really wanted to stay, they would make it work.
