Probably a make good contract where he has to make the roster to collect. I'm rooting for him. I'd like to see what he can do in an offense that goes down the field.

I guess there is no "dead cap" so Smith isn't guaranteed anything if he is cut.

He still has a lot of upside. He didn't really started coming into his own in 2014. This year was slowed by a nagging injury. He started coming on late. It didn't help that Beatherd wasn't throwing deep due to his sports hernia.

I didn't look it up, but an undrafted free agent signs a contract and he is lucky if he gets $100K. Actually he would be very lucky to get that. I would bet he got $25K to $50K guaranteed.

Heck almost all contracts int the NFL are non-binding and they can cut almost any body at any time and not have to pay them. Not Fun League

I think in this case there were some valid reasons he was underutilized, his injuries, injuries to CJB, poor pass pro blocking, trying to keep CJB from getting killed while waiting for the longer routes to develop.

Its all the guaranteed money. If there is none, its not a good contract for Smith.

But I hope he does great. I always felt he was underutilized at Iowa.

They still have to pay him at that rate scale on a monthly basis which is $500,000+ annually. If he lasts 3 months, 9 months or the year he's not doing badly.
