Iowa has one of the statistically worst offenses in the nation and the #24 ranked scoring defense in the country. The hawks win the coin toss and instead of deferring they take the ball and Purdue defends the north end zone with a 25+ mph wind at their back. WTF?? Does KF never learn, does he not know his offense is going to not move the ball like a couple times at Jack Trice Stadium in the same conditions of the wind tunnel in Ames? I put a question mark there but it is rhetorical. Defer and take the wind at your back, stop Purdue like they actually did, do a safe punt return instead of a block call as Purdue is punting into the wind now, hawks get ball near midfield with wind at their back and score, repeat and score, repeat and score.
Please answer: would you take the ball or defer
The 2 point conversion- I would kick the PAT because I believe in the old adage of wait until you have to go for 2.
Poll: Go for 2 or PAT
Since we took the ball to open the game Purdue takes the ball to start the second half. And for some unknown reason from where ever KF decides to kick into the wind. So Purdue is going to get the ball and the wind to start the 2nd half. This will maximize their time with the ball and the wind in the quarter. KF did not learn from the same windy game situation in against jNW just a month ago. Amazing. I say Hawks take the wind in 3rd qtr per my reasoning above and score a bunch to have a big lead when Purdue gets the wind in the 4th qtr with less total game time left.
Poll: Should hawks kick into the wind to start the 3rd qtr or take the wind
Last week Purdue threw 60 passes for 400 yards against jNW and ran for a lot less yards and attempts. So why did we have Bower chasing receivers and tight ends instead of a nickle defensive back. This might have been a game to play a lot or majority of nickle and dime.
Poll: Would you replace a Lbkr with another DBack or play the normal defense?
OK, that is enough, without even getting to the offensive play calling, to tell me again the coaching staff makes what I think are some terrible decisions that put the players in bad situations and positions. This needs to change.
