Tents banned in Kinnick Lot 43

AYFKM? My goodness, I railed hard on the crackdown a few years ago and it continues. This is huge. That lot is a $10k donation lot and they're going to tell people they can't have tents in it? Who in the heck makes these decisions? Now don't get me wrong, I've tried pulling into that lot with an infirm person and a KC pass at 10 in the morning, which is quite a challenge and sure, there are people doing stupid things with their tents, but those people should individually be called out. This is just another step by our passive aggressive society of rather than remediating behavior on the spot, we get a blanket rule that makes everyone's life worse. What a joke.

Give it five years, ten tops. Tailgating will be gone from university lots. Book it.

This is bigger than the beer sniffers on Melrose rule that was implemented a few years ago. It's an absolute joke. Enjoy baking out there on days like that NIU game or standing in the rain.

The crotchety old folks that donate crap tons of money just so they can pull in at 10:30 and leave immediately after the game is over are the ones this rule was made for. I can't begin to count the number of times I am walking next to the stadium crushing my last road beers only to see old fogies in Cadillacs and Lincolns trying to park still within 30 minutes of kick off. Giant travesty.

The security needs to do a better job of directing traffic into the lot rather than making it a free for all because then what happens is you get dudes just driving in, parking all cockeyed and trying to save a spot for their buddy and pitching a tent to save a spot. There are handicapped spots in that lot and there are inevitably a few unusable spots at 10:30, but that could all be fixed if one of the 200 people getting paid to stand around in that lot took some initiative to organize the parking in the lot as people trickle in.

Honestly this doesn't matter to me one bit as I am but a low donating prole that would never have access to that lot outside of winning teh lottery. But I do believe that this is just the next domino in line to fall on the way towards the university banning all beer and tailgating from university owned lots.

Nonsense - what if I won the lottery and wanted to pitch a tent and invited all of the posters on HN to crush brews with me? I wouldn't be able to pitch the tent so no one would come. Garbage.

Killing the golden goose. Better hope K-rentz can hold it together and have decent upcoming seasons or else Kinnick may start looking like Carver circa 2008.

Attendance was already slightly down last year for the first time in years. Most of that was probably a carry over from that 2012 hot mess but still. Attendance problems are an epidemic sweeping across college football. Does Iowa really want to accelerate that process?

Or freezing your *** off with nothing to break the wind on days like the Michigan game.
