Ten Questions?

For the first time in a very long time I am looking forward to the game and the season.
Things I will be looking for are this:
1. With a new style offensively and playing faster, will they give up a lot more points or slightly more points than the past few years? As Iowa gets more opportunities so does the other team.
2. Can the frontcourt stay out of foul trouble?
3. How much does Cully Payne improve from his better than average freshman season?
4. Can Eric May and/or Matt Gatens be 2nd team All-Big Ten?
5. Will Melsahn Basabe contend for Freshman of the Year in a freshman class that is loading in the Big Ten, will Basabe be the best Freshman on Iowa's roster?
6. Does Iowa's lack of overall size become an issue of weather Iowa competes in the Big Ten?
7. Can Andrew Brommer contribute something other than trying to set the World Record for fouls per minute?:D
8. In the Big Ten, can Iowa outreboud one opponent?
9. How many wins will Iowa get?
10. What place will Iowa finish in the Big Ten?

Excellent questions sportstalent.

I can only add that I am excited for the first time in many years to see how the season plays out. While the wins may not come as we all hope, lets face it we all want the Hawks to win every game, it is still going to be more exciting to watch the games.

I hate to admit there have been times the last couple years when I either never watched the game or shut it off part way through. I think at some point this year, the new style helps us overcome a big deficit, ala the Illinois game back in the Mr. Davis era, and we knock off someone we aren't expected to. In years past if we got behind, it was GAME OVER.

Highly unlikely for Gatens/May to make 2nd team all conference. The league is loaded with talented upperclassmen.

Yes and yes, but the turnovers are going to kill them if they don't fix that.
2. Can the frontcourt stay out of foul trouble?
Yes, they don't contest shots on a regular basis, then there should be no issues
3. How much does Cully Payne improve from his better than average freshman season?
Cully looked wound tight in his first game...wait and see approach
4. Can Eric May and/or Matt Gatens be 2nd team All-Big Ten?
If May continues to turn the ball over as he did, then no, he can score, but no need to try and dribble through two or three guys
5. Will Melsahn Basabe contend for Freshman of the Year in a freshman class that is loading in the Big Ten, will Basabe be the best Freshman on Iowa's roster?
No and No, after what I saw from Jared Sullinger and McCabe is Iowa's best freshman
6. Does Iowa's lack of overall size become an issue of weather Iowa competes in the Big Ten?
Their lack of size now doesn't concern me it is the backcourt holding on to the ball
7. Can Andrew Brommer contribute something other than trying to set the World Record for fouls per minute?:D
Actually, yeah, he needs to relax and not be out of control
8. In the Big Ten, can Iowa outreboud one opponent?
Nope, unless all 5 guys crash the boards on the defensive end
9. How many wins will Iowa get?
I am still going to be positive and say 13
10. What place will Iowa finish in the Big Ten?
From what I saw, unless Iowa plays better on defense and doesn't limit turnovers, 10th at best
