TD Drop Was The Ballgame

And Gervase was Johnny on the spot. Two things I'd like to point out
  • Our physicality = their speed. It had a noticable effect as the game went on. Receivers arms were shrinking, running backs were getting knocked out of the game, it had a cumulative effect. They had to rely on Fitzgerald way too much.
  • I'm a progressive enough person to recognize the need for a playoff system. But there is still something romantic about finishing your season, and the careers of seniors, with a win. Bowl games offer one of the few opportunities in sports to do so.
Great day to be a Hawkeye

1) Thanx for ur honest presentation of that play. Gervase was beaten - badly- and the guy just dropped it into his hands. It was nice the Hawks benefitted from a lucky bounce.

2) I really like Iowa D. If tall Nelson and Hooker stay + the young DBs come along as expected. Hammer time!

3) Winning every game is fun. Especially those you should and few u shouldn’t. That this was the latter AND the last game is sweet.

4) None of the above erases the fact that Nate Stanley and Brian Ferentz are bad at their jobs and as much liabilities as contributors.

That was the best catch and pitch I've seen in years.

MS St of course will claim they gave the game to Iowa.
Their Meathead coach did the following
  • Burned two time outs early in the second half
  • Went for a FG on 4th and makable inside our five
  • Punted on 4th and makable with about four minutes to go
This shows how much respect he gained for our defense as the game went on. He went on fourth down early and got it as Fitzgerald made a McSorleyesque play. He didn't want to mess with it later.

This doesn't take into account the penalty discrepancy, which is at least partially on the HC. I know we probably lose if the receiver holds in the end zone. But we gained at least a stalemate in the coaching matchup with that neanderthal on the other sideline.

We can't get back all our close losses this year, but this was still enjoyable.

Yeah I didn't understand punting the ball with 4th and inches. Even if you don't make it Iowa was not moving the football against that defense.

They pretty much did. Credit our defense but MSU coaching was horrible and the pick in the endzone was a gift. If tables were turned we would feel that way for sure.
