Take Lynch off of the board...

Per twitter he just committed to PSU. That really sucks too. I was hoping that having his best friend Tevaun Smith on our side he would join. Oh well. Barkley Hill, come on down.

So Iowa's 13 year seasoned staff and a position of need and available playing time was out recruited by a coaching staff NOT EVEN IN PLACE yet and school with a sex scandal? Awesome.

So Iowa has what, 3 running backs next season? Garmon, Canzeri (180 pounds) and Bullock (converted WR). It's all good though, plenty of walk-ons can fill the depth chart.

And apparently Lynch never even met Obrian face to face since he's still coaching at New England. Skype communication only.

Classic Ryno

Your life must be depressing if this news impacts you that much

Wow. Our coach doesn't even a cell phone! This staff has really struggled with recruiting the past few years.

This PSU sex scandal has had no negative effects on recruiting. Only Urban Meyer.

I can't blame the kid too much. PSU was his dream school and it's close to home. In fact Iowa probably wouldn't have gotten this close if it weren't for the whole sex abuse circus.

Just what I was thinking. Totally awesome.

When my favorite team has ZERO proven running backs - for a running team - and are getting out recruited by PSU during this sex scandal is reason for concern.

Guess the Patriots making it to the Super Bowl impressed some recruits today - PSU got 4 commitments today alone. Maybe Iowa should hire Brian Ferentz...

Didn't he also pick Penn State over Oklahoma -- i.e. no slouch at recruiting? It's not like Iowa is the only school to get turned down by Lynch. And if he turned down a prestige program like Oklahoma, maybe it was because he wanted to stay out on the East Coast, which also would disqualify Iowa.

I'd prefer to have more running back recruits, true, given Iowa's recent departures. But didn't Iowa get a four star running back recruit not too long ago? If they can get one more running back recruit to go with Garmon and add that with what they have coming back, they will be pretty solid (plus Malloy could still greyshirt?). Not as solid as if Coker and McCall were here still, obviously, but I would argue they're sitting better than the Wegher and Adam Robinson duo in 2009, that was pretty good when they were healthy.

You mean the year Iowa tied Minny at the bottom of the B1G with a 2.8 YPC average? Yeah, if we could average that stellar 97 yards per game it will be awesome!

Bingo, not good at all...

Believe the OU offer disappeared after Smith committed.

there are 6 scholarship rb on the roster, Garmon is the prize this year, Malloy was a schollarship committ until he screwed up. now he is walking on with the chance to earn a scholarship
Malloy 6'0 180 4.41 40 3*
Shaw 5'11 190 4.42 40 3* has iowa at the top of his list
both are listed as athletes, which makes it easier to switch position down the road and less likely to leave
Lynch to PSU 6'0 205 4.4 40 3* rb
not much different in rankings but being listed as a rb, and with the thing go he was a risk the angry rb god wrath,
personnally i like Shaw, he has the potential to be that scat back, short and quick,
and Garmon will not move he is a RB, if anything he can lineup in the slot or the outside like Coker was doing this season, whuch makes him even , more valuable
Shaw's list of scholarships are
Iowa
Maryland
U Mass
PSU
not exactly sisters of the poor
if we land Shaw that makes the 4th rb in this class, 2 walk-on and 2 scholarship player with 3 being 3* recruits and 1 4* recruit
so its not like we are to get people that nobody heard about, like we have in the past

Keep in mind guys this sex scandal is a bigger deal to adults that do not live out east. People in the east are still defending the program and are quick to put all the blame on Sandusky. They have a totally different view point than we do.

Imagine had this happened at Iowa, there would be a number of fans defending this as well. You have a kid that grew up a Hawkeye fan all of his life and bled black and gold, even a scandal like this may not have an impact on his final decision.

For those of you bashing our coaches, KF had a face to face with this kid. Knowing KF I seriously doubt he even brought up the sex scandal.

That's frustrating because every coach in the conference negative recruits against Iowa. MSU for example still uses the Rhabdo incident in recruiting against Iowa.

I said they would be better shape than that duo. Better than, as in greater, as in more yards than that.

Does it frustrate you that KF has a sense of right and wrong, and is ethical? Is that what you're saying?

Would you prefer KF recruited like Dantonio?

Do we get a few extra points spotted on the scoreboard due to those ethics?

Because the way MSU kicked our as*s on the field last year, we're gonna need them.
