Take a breath everyone

If everyone would read Jon's post about our recruiting classes and become somewhat rational, you can understand our problems. When you lose half your recruiting classes for two years in a row, you are no better off than Penn State will be in a few years with their sanctions. Think about it, if anyone looses that much talent and depth they are in trouble. We can't just reload with 5 star kids because we are a developmental program. We recruit 3 star kids and develop them. When we keep them together, we are pretty damn good. It's the only way we can compete with the best in our league. Without that development, we are forced to play kids that aren't ready yet and the whole team suffers. Actually, we are on the same level as a good FCS team as far as available upperclassmen. We will get through this tough time. With the experience the underclassmen are getting we may even be better off for it in a couple of years. Not drinking the kool-aid, just looking at the facts.

Totally unacceptable for year 14 and the results that have happened in the last 7 years and this year also (one year above average). Do you see these attrition problems getting fixed in th future? Iowa has had these large numbers of kids leave the program since the early parts of KFs coaching tenure.

Sorry, just can't tote the company line anymore. The excuses are getting old.

Regardless of recruiting rankings and talent the offense has been the consistent weak link on the team. This particiular team lacks talent. Pile that on top of a horrendously unimaginative running scheme that appears to have no relationship with the passing scheme and you get 1 touchdown in two games. What's a guy got to do to get a counter play around here? Iowa ran it once yesterday and despite our lack of talen the entire ISU linebacking core was out of position. We never ran the play or play action out of that look again.

Point being, there's talent issues, but there continues to be a systemic problem with the offensive scheme and philosophy.

Hayden used to mash these bass turds into the ground. You don't even want to talk about Northwestern. There could be some rays of hope when you look at the recent recruiting like you have said. I have not lost hope on this year yet. It was not a total disaster as we did see improvement in both lines on Saturday. JV didn't have a great game but we still probably would have won the game if key passes that were right in our receivers hands had not been dropped. I hate to lose at anything and have a very competitive spirit and yesterday was very difficult to watch. This Saturday is another opportunity for JV to redeem himself and to get back on track. I for one will be hoping he does. We all know he is a much better QB than what we have seen so far this season. If our line play continues to improve every week we will be a handful for any team that takes us lightly. Remember though I said "if". It's ok to vent on the forums. We vent together, we cheer together, we cry together, it is what we do......we are IOWA! Paid for by the political action committee to stomp ISU's A$$ next year! I am Osama Bin Lauden(?) and I approve this message. Man do I have one hell of a headache for some reason.......come here little fishy.

Recruiting and/or player rentention issues are obvious.. That doesn't make it acceptable IMO. And it sure as heck doesn't make me feel better about the future. This is only an explanation for why we are bad.

If we had below average and facilities and limited funds for our coaching staff then I would have little or no expectations for a successful program. That not being the case and the "this is Iowa" excuse when it comes to recruiting does not cut it for me any longer.

Hmmm. I think we all have a pretty good idea what kind of QB JVB is.

I don't need to take a breath because before this year started I said this team has 5-6 wins. I still stand by that statement. It is pretty said considering how down the Big10 is overall to only see 5-6 wins with a 14 year head coach. I am so tired of hearing the excuses for this coaching staff. Maybe instead of giving excuses for this team, we should be looking to see why so many have left?

I have nothing against KF I love the guy I just don't want him as head coach anymore. He could turn this year around like 2002, and I would still feel the same way. This is a weak conference and the hawks look to be one of the weakest teams in it.

Looking forward to a passion filled intense basketball season. One where anything is possible and nada es impossible.
