Tailgating- Hancher Lot

Usually I tailgate at the Myrtle lot or the First Mennonite lot. Saturday we are going to give the Hancher lot a go. Knowing that this is a night game and is sold out does that lot fill up? I know the other lots require you to sometimes show up pretty early so was just trying to see when to leave. We are going to have some kids with us so we aren't looking to do the usually 4 hour or 5 hour pre-gaming. Was hoping to leave the Quad Cities around 2:30pm or so and set up shop around 3:30pm and have a few hours to hang out before the game before heading over. Any concerns of that lot filling up? I know it's pretty big but have never been there for anything but parking for Iowa basketball.

Also is there a color theme for Saturday night? Go Hawks!

I used to live in Mayflower across from Hancher. You should be fine tailgating there. Key word is should be. I've been wrong about these things before.

Also aren't we striping for Wisconsin? I think you can wear anything for UNI.

I've tailgated in the Hancher lot probably a half dozen times over the past 5 years. It's not a bad spot. If your there 3.5 hours before game time you should be fine. I believe they still run shuttle buses from Hancher up to about a block from the stadium. We used to take those to the game but walk back to Hancher after the game.

I have not driven down Dubuque Street in a few months so not sure what the construction zone is looking like from I-80 to Hancher.

Construction is a million times better than what it was a year ago. It is still something to keep in mind during gameday, but it is much lower on the list than it was last year, though I would still plan about an extra 20-25 minutes getting out from there just in case.

Is this what the tailgating scene for Kinnick has come to? A mile away from the stadium and shuttles? How long have people been tailgating there?
