Sweet...Matt Millen to be lead BTN football analyst

Thank God, something new to discuss......:p

Matt says what's on his mind (kind of like around here...ha ha)

Its hard to take Matt Millen seriously after his record-breaking awfulness as the Detroit Lions GM. no winning seasons. 8 losing seasons and an all time worse 0-16 season. After that, you have to question if he is capable of evaluating anything correctly.

Evaluating individual talent and knowing x and o are different spheres. Just because he sucked in drafts doesn't mean he doesn't know how to analyze games. That's why most NFL franchises have GMs and HCs.

Agreed. I thought he did a good job when he was with Sean Mcdonough on ABC

He's actually good on TV. Don't care that he sucked as a GM.

This. Even though he started to slip in the last couple of years he is still really good as an color analyst. Whatever happen to the "seven got six" guy? Ex-player that I thought was good. Having a brain fart can't remember what his name is.

A few years ago I was tailgating with my usual crew in the stadium parking lot, and we usually set up towards the road, (furthest away from the stadium, closest to the port o potties). It must have been a 2:30 or even night game because we had been at it a long time that day when the booth crew left their trailer to head up into the press box. They (including Millen) started walking right at us, and true to form my buddy started running his mouth. Nothing mean spirited, but mostly about how bad the Lions were under his watch and such. Millen walks right up to him, and I thought he was going to go off on him, but he just smacked my buddy in the arse so hard it HAD to have left a mark. It was funniest damn thing I've ever seen. Now I can't see him or hear his name without thinking of that moment. Good times.

Millen was so clueless as an announcer that I was shocked when he got the Detroit GM job. He has nothing intelligent to say about the game.

Its weird sometimes, you listen to Bob Davie and Lou Holtz on tv, you would assume Davie would be the Hall of fame coach and that Holtz would be the one who sucked as a head coach, yet its the opposite. some dudes just are good at sounding like they are experts when in reality they are not. Don't get me wrong, they are all smarter than me,

Give me Chris Spielman any day of the week. Millen is clueless half the time. Millen can't carry Spielman's jock.

Spielman is great. He don't sugar coat anything. Calls it as he sees it. He will bash stupid coaching decisions and bone headed plays by kids just as much as he will praise them when it's warranted. That's all I ask for. It's hard for these networks to have a bunch of good announcers because they do so many games each week now. So I think name/face recognition will get peoples feet in the door.
Sometimes I forget that not every fan watching on tv is as much of a die hard know it all (at least I think i do ha) as I am and these announcers have to dummy down how they explain things out there. I just don't like it when they try to make themselves out to be rock stars and over talk. The game for the most part is all I need.

For those low information types, who don't know Millen's disgusting history, they might see
New guy and like him for One show.

They could not have made a WORSE Choice.

I hope the BTN continues to steal ESPN guys and improve their overall production on game days. They have to have money coming out of their ears right? Pony up and get rid of the cheesy looking studio.

Chris Martin. He got pulled from the network when it was discovered that he was an NFL agent.

Ulysses S Grant failed at every occupation he tried.

Went on to become a peerless US general, two-term president.
