I heard on the radio about one of those big furniture outlet owners who started a super bowl pickem contest. Any customer picking the two final teams in the super bowl this year would get all their money back.
Well the furniture business owner from down south ended up paying back about $600,000.
There were a lot of winners and one would wonder how with 8-10 teams in each conference the odds of picking the final two would still be a 5-10% proposition.
How did the customers do it. Well it turns out the owner didnt announce the contest and open it up until the week before the two conf championship games of two weeks ago.
I had to laugh when I heard this on the radio. They interviewed some guy who said he and bunch of his neighbors went down there because they only had to pick two games where denver and seattle were both favored.
I have to believe that this owner didnt run this by his accountants and marketing people.
