Stud OL Recruit: Bramidele Olaseni

It looks like there's a 6'8, 320lb 4**** JUCO OT from England named Olaseni. For whatever reason, Kirk hasn't offered the him. If I didn't know better, I'd say he's Gabe's gigantic brother, and already has fantastic ties to the U of Iowa. He has offers from Auburn, Arkansas, and Minnesota, Nebraska, and Texas so far.

If this kid isn't a slam dunk to at least offer a scholarship, than who is? Do ALL of our OL have to be small town kids and walk ons from Iowa? Are the only JUCOs we take those who pay their own way to come to Iowa like our starting WR and our starting PR?

He probably has a reason, presuming your statement he hasn't been offered is correct.

I didn't realize two 4 star prospects and two high 3-stars with solid offer lists being evaluated by one of the most qualified OL coaches in the business were equal to small town Iowa walkons.

I guess I totally forgot our current starting OL has two 4-stars at the tackle positions with 3 more on the depth chart.

You've been trying way too hard these past couple weeks.

Uhhh - trying too hard at what? The two deeps show a grand total of just 1 guy who comes from a town larger than 10,000 people. Just one out of state recruit. Zero JUCOs. You think there are 5 four star kids in the two deeps? There are a total of 1.

It wouldn't hurt for the staff to expand their horizons and offer a kid like Oleseni...unless you think Iowa's lines have been dominant as of late and don't need improvement.

Ross Reynolds - 2 star Waukee, Iowa
Keegan Render - 3 star Indianola, Iowa
Dalton Fergison - 0 star Solon, Iowa
Levi Paulson - 3 star Moville, Iowa
Landon Paulson - 3 star Moville, Iowa
Cole Banwart - 2 star Algona, Iowa
Tristan Wirfs - 4 star Mt Vernon, Iowa
Alaric Jackson - 3 star Detroit
Marc Kallenberger - 3 star Bettendorf, Iowa

And yet in the four games we have played, you can't blame the offensive line for any of our woes. Sure, ISU was a bit of a difficult day, but the game plan had more to do with that. We ran and protected against the best team (Wisconsin) we faced. I'd say the coaches know what they are doing.

KF says that Render will be playing in the NFL, along with Wirfs and Jackson for sure. I also think Banwart (he's young) has a good shot for the NFL...he's got three more years to play too.

Stop focusing on the stars.

Both Paulsons and Kallenberger were 4-stars. I was mistaken on Jackson but he was damn close.

Since when has hometown population or location had anything to do with a player's ability? I get the point you're trying to make there, but it's really irrelevant. 3 of 5 starters on the 2002 line, arguably the best OL in school history, were from Iowa, with two others all the way from Illinois, along with a few of the best linemen of the Ferentz-era (and Iowa history) being small town Iowa guys., such as Gallery, Steinbach, Nelson, and Scherff. As for JUCOs, why? Do we have pressing need of an upperclassman at any of the spots right now? No, we don't. JUCOs are great for a hole in your roster, but most coaches, not just KF, would rather have someone who's developed entirely in their system.

Dominant as of late, no they have not been. But even below-average? No. The 2013-2014 lines were actually pretty talented, but due to blocking for a FB are not remembered as fondly. I loved Weisman but having him as our feature back really hampered our run game. 2015-16 lines were suspect in pass-pro, but maulers in the run game. 2017 line was the opposite. And, as WinOneThisCentury put it, this year's line has been pretty good so far.

It's not that I don't want Olaseni, because I do, if only because I loved his brother on the basketball court. But you're making out a problem where there is none.

Not sure why the tirade is necessary. Just post the info and let the cards fall where they may. You could really learn a lesson from TK. He is quite the master at starting instigating threads while having to do very little soap box preaching himself.

Yes, London, England is a hotbed of DI football recruits compared to .... let's see .... any state in the States .
