Rutgers is suspending Coach C. Vivian Stringer one game for allowing managers to participate as practice players. Shouldn't a program like Rutgers have enough players to practice without having to do this ?
It is true - the fill-in players (manager) in this instance needs to be an eligibile student athlete. Rutgers is down to 9 players, so Stringer used someone who violated an NCAA rule.
Also, it is not true that the women's teams are not allowed to practice against men. There was a movement (and a position paper) filed to end the practice, but there has been no change made yet. Here's an article from today about the Missouri women's team practicing against men.

As a matter of fact, in the Big East, the joke is that there are not men at any school that can emulate the UCONN women's team.
It said managers needed to be eligible student athletes. I suppose that means they need to go through clearing house and other red tape.
